An idea to nerf plane spams

Everyone should know that at this point, in maps of Normandy, #1 players of both sides were often P-47D or Ju-188 plane spams that spent 30 minutes of the entire session in their planes, uncontested. Maybe the time you switch your vehicle slot from a plane to a tank, this happens. Worst case scenario, none of your team is even bringing a P-38 or a Bf-110 to counter them at all, maybe they’re not even using engineers to build AA.

With this happening in most matches, this creates an obvious spam where, if you look at the leaderboard, they would have something like “10000 score” while their #2 and so on probably only have like “2000 score” at most. I would partially blame the enemy team for not having any actual counter, but due to broken AI, we all know planes have ungodly durability system that wasting 500 20mm autocannons shot on important spots like fuselage, engine or tail doesn’t really makes a difference than 500 .50 BMG does. (Yeah, Enlisted, baby. Woooo?)

That’s where my suggestion come in; Flying timer limit, or resupply limit for planes.

  • Flying Timer Limit
Give the fighters/bombers a five minute timer limit where after the timer expires, they just die. Sure, this sounds unrealistic and yadda-yadda. But this will actually reduce the spam greatly for BOTH sides. Aerial superiority should be a clear advantage, but in-game balance, that’s just too chaotically OP. Considering that late-game planes are just “Yeah imma spam this everywhere and I’ll still get kills”. It doesn’t matters how many effort you even put as ground forces in THEIR side. You can build 15 effective rallies, ammo boxes and mg nests, while going BRRRRT on the enemy team. By the time you reach 5k, that #1 guy on your team spamming planes would already reach 10k. Quite the exaggeration, but people should know what I’m talking about.

  • Resupply limit
An example will be a one minute timer cooldown for every resupply prevents a 20-40 seconds flying back and forth turns into a spam-spree. That’s right, ammo and CAS conservation. It should be obvious what the impact would be, you’re really going to be careful with the spending of your main armaments and where your rockets/bombs go, because you will have to wait for an entire minute before the resupply point is open for you again.

I noticed that this one is quite unfair for the plane players as a 30 minute match means that at best they would only be able to drop 30 CAS… Which already sounds quite much. Considering that current P-47/A-20/Ju-188/Bf-110 CAS spam would probably go back and forth every 30-40 seconds.

I opt for the first option much, because I noticed that some of these players deliberately leads stock or ‘noob’ squads so they die quickly, just for the sake of getting the fighter spawn again as soon as possible if they die. They literally enters matches just to get plane spam because they don’t want to put any effort on the ground. Much wow?

So Kamikaze pilots like me are acceptable?

Great, this will make f2p dude with plane suffer.
While i can go back to suicide bombing with 3 planes.
You can’t even blame the enemy because there is no counter to plane that wants to crash.
1 extra slot+premium and You don’t have to play as pleb infantry no more, only sky and heaven

The problem is only kamikaze planes, the so-called “carousels”, which have several aircraft detachments-they take a plane, fly to the point, drop bombs, kill themselves, and then take another plane and so on in a circle. Something really needs to be done about this. Otherwise, there are no problems. And normal pilots should not suffer because of fools. If you don’t know how to fight against airplanes, these are your purely personal problems.

  1. limited fly time and limited resupplies will just make people suicide bomb more

  2. it isnt that hard to use a fighter. And if no one wants to shoot a plane down, that plane should be able to do damage as YOU are the one that chooses not to contest it. An uncontested attacker is only “op” because your team is too lazy to do something about it

  3. nerfing planes as a whole further might not be a good idea. The other campaigns also have planes, usually with a third of the bombload of the ones in normandy. And nerfing all planes will heavily impact the ones in the other campaigns that are already pretty uneffective at achieving anything

No offence but not a great idea. A lot of people want to enjoy aircraft and putting a time cap on that is so bad. Kamikazes would increase ten fold. I definitely think there should be prebuilt AA guns on the map ready for use with ammo that regenerates over time like a resupply point planes have, not sure why engineers always have to build them. Also the fact that AA guns run out of ammo is a deterrent. having one close to a spawn that replenish its ammo say every two minutes and if destroyed comes back in 5 minutes would be good. Players don’t want to actively go out and seek to destroy planes, it’s an effort, but if they were to be on their way to a point/strategic zone/cap and all they had to do was jump on one for 10 seconds because they see an incoming plane it would be ideal. These AA guns would have to be place in a strategic place that doesn’t make them capable of destroying land/ground targets. All in all having the constant threat of AA guns will make pilots go to higher altitudes when attacking which is more realistic. And obviously if implemented experienced players will go target them straight out of the bat, which is fine because they would just waste ammo on an unarmed AA gun to go rearm and then repeat 5 minutes later, all in all putting them out of the game for longer.

yeah… that would just double them.

i see an attempt here, and i do think the second point resupply limit should be implemented ( much more instead of the first ).

and i hope devs will fix aiplanes and tanks damage models for good.

As f2p players its a choise between fighter & tank. Tanks can be pretty much useful everytime, while fighter is useful only if theres enemy planes.

I doubt they have yet fixed the issue of planes taking 5000 hits and survive. So in that sense its just waste of ammo as inf to shoot at planes.

Not an option if tank is selected which is most of time.
From ground POV its just waste of ammo as those flying tanks can magically absorb 10000 hits.

So you are suggesting to limit red team pilot’s time because your team is too lazy to counter.

Sounds like a problem with your team m8.

And like other posters have commented, less reason to stay alive == more suicide bombing.

After more ‘research’ on the planes and some questions to other players, reading y’all feedbacks, and a lot more combat with the G-10, Focke-Wulf, and Bf-110. I’ve come to some ‘better’ suggestions.

The flying timer limit is bad, yeah. I mean, the intention is good, but considering how many players are just going to kamikaze, this is going to be useless.

Resupply limit seems to have better reception, this won’t solve that #1-3 guy spamming P-47D or Bf-110, but this will scale down their CAS.

I also found out by myself and from other players, the reason that Axis players (specifically) seems to be really discouraged of dogfighting or hunting down CAS players is due to how USELESS their 13mm/20mm Autocannons are. They are just ‘cannons’ by name but they spew out what seems to be HE for the caliber of fricking 9x19mm parabellum. On the other hand, .50 BMG (12.7mm) seems to be absolutely tearing planes apart in seconds.

Focke Wulf can spend 1000+ autocannon shots with 75% hit ratio and it won’t even bother the enemy plane they were shooting at. It won’t even set them on fire or break parts.

A-20/P-47/P-51 can fire 100 shots of .50 BMG and the next thing you know that Ju-188 has 75% of its module and plane parts dark red and plummeting to the earth in fiery ablaze.

To put it simply; The autocannons are not really functioning as autocannons in Enlisted, at least plane vs plane wise. If you give the planes historically INACCURATE 7.92 Mauser rounds for the MG34/42, they might do multiple times more damage than these ‘13mm/20mm’ autocannons. Hell, it should be an insult to autocannons that they were called cannons at the first place.

The only functioning autocannons for the planes seems to be the 30mm-37mm autocannons that those Bf-110 and late-ver of the stukas used. And the downside is, due to how early the plane is accessible for Axis, the majority who used them are newbs who are still struggling with- Let’s admit it- Enlisted completely advanced, realistic, and absolutely mindblowingly flawless flying system.

I blame 25% on the playerbase, and 75% on Darkflow itself.

I think the key point of this whole post, judging by the comments ; If we can’t limit these spams, we need to make fighters viable- And that doesn’t means ‘buff fighters’ into unstoppable killing machines. No, we need to make their armaments actually functioning. Especially these ‘autocannons’ that seems to be fricking peashooters. If you need to take down a biplane with 1000+ 13mm/20mm autocannon shots with a 99% hit accuracy and it only gets yellowed plane parts, but 100 .50 BMG on a Ju-188 de-existed it…

Let’s just be honest, major hits on critical parts like engine, wings and tail should be fatal. But due to enlisted being enlisted… You get the point.

12.7mm in this game, somehow outperform larger calibers. No, not in quantity or flexibility. But damage. What’s the point of having 100x 20mm autocannons in your planes if we combine all of their damage to be only worth one M2 Browning?

Yeah, like I mentioned before, I blame Darkflow heavily on this.

And uh, yeah, Allies troll screaming “JUST AIM FOR THE COCKPIT HOW HARD IS IT”, go get your Jumbo one-shotted by Panther on Normandy. I’m still salted over how they scream the tank is OP but then flex over ‘how easy it is to kill Panther’ with just M10, P-47d etc… and then they claim the M10 and P-47 to be horrible and deserve to be buffed even more.

Sorry for the off topic, but with the amount of forum trolls, or worse, people genuinely being two-faced like this without even realizing it, you can’t ever be too careful with these snakes.
