It will only make this game worse, imagine you are attacking, one of the enemy has the high ground and start to create a artillery bragge
I will yell till end of times, mines arent op
Then Iāll send smoke and bombs at them
And use flamethrowers in the rear to execute those deserters who passively fight.
advance or die
youāre right
But I donāt want to face an enemy who keeps throwing Molotov cocktails and rifle grenades at me when Iām attacking alone.
Because those casual players and novices basically wonāt help share the pressure and attention.
They will just walk forward to die or hide behind and wait to die
Ah yes, the noob tube. The classic video game weapon class which has caused endless grief in the past. The reason why they donāt resupply is simple - Anyone can use them. Almost every class can use a grenade rifle, and obviously everyone can use grenades.
I, personally, donāt think that AOE weaponry should be resuppliable. Mines, grenades, launcher 'nades, mortars, flamer ammo, t he RMN-50 (it resupplies cuz its technically a mortar, I bet) shouldnāt be able to be resupplied. This cuts down drastically on spam.
Reminder, an engineer can put down three ammo boxes at once (and you can call in more with the signals squad!). Thatās a lot of grenades being shot and thrown and I donāt think we need that. We already have: AT guns with nearly infinite HE shelling points (and super wonky hit boxes so itās difficult to actually destroy them), tanks with nearly infinite HE shelling points, arty strikes, troops with 3 slots of grenades, AP mines for each trooperā¦
Iād say that, yeah, explosives and what not is a part of warā¦but some concessions need to be made for gameplay quality. This isnāt quake 3 where you can both dodge and tank multiple rockets before dying.
let me give you an example of abusing that:
- you pick up grenade throw perk for extra range
- you build ammo crate at some place with view to chokepoint
- you just spam impact grenades
- nobody can move through that choke point
you know what is also present in war? friendly fire. if you just enabled friendly fire, he spam wouldnt be such a problem anymore.
yeah āsupportā. that is why they were nerfed so much cause everyone was just using them for āsupportā. explosive pack meta, WP meta, impact grenade meta, rifle grenade meta⦠people were using more of those grenades than actually guns.
trap that magically doesnt trigger when friendly player goes over it, but somehow triggers when enemy comes over it.
I understand the fear, but I usually fall back on the āchaos principleā (lol). Simply put how long can that guy survive doing that.
- Maybe friendly planes rocket him the moment he leaves spawn
- maybe his whole AI squad gets wiped
- maybe you (or anyone else) snuffs him out after he gets you a couple times,
- maybe your team is rushing the objective so fast he has no time to do anything
- etc etc
My point is in battle anything can happen, anything goes.
First I would say everyone draws the gameplay vs realism line differently, everyone has different standards. I look at it as, you (the soldier player) can do pretty much anything, but you canāt kill your own team.
However I will say that I have thought that friendly fire could be interesting. It would really shake up the gameplay flow. Iām not saying it could immediately be slapped on and made the new standard, but I do think it would be interesting as say an āexperimental modeā (like lone fighters was once). You know see what happens, take it from there. But regardless I would say any sort of friendly fire wouldnāt be for a long long time
Like me personally one of my pipe dreams is a Giant Battle.
I mean they were certainly good at their job for better or worse.
Like I said before about gameplay vs realism lines. Though I will say that if an enemy triggers the mine tactically by shooting it or perhaps a grenade triggering it, then I think it could damage the team, like playing hot potato with grenades
