I keep seeing references to people thinking that there’s something wrong with the American jets but for the life of me I can’t figure out what they’re talking about?
The 262 seems to actually be much better handling and in this game that kind of gives you an advantage unless I’m missing something here?
most of the discussion is from the meteor turning stupidly fast (13 seconds) and the F80 slightly slower (can’t remeber off the top of my head, like 16 or something?), which is faster or on par with prop fighters, as well as having double the payload of the 262 with those big of bombs. The 262 handles slightly worse I think, 18 second turn time and climbs slower (slow enough that trying to dive bomb usually ends up with you pancaked into the ground), but is faster and the guns are good against infantry.
I smash Me262 always against the ground while trying to bomb/spam HE as it has awful climb rate. It’s bomb also make flying characteristic even worse and tilt into one side. Turn rate is also mediocre and you can’t compete against any other jet.
I’m assuming these aren’t the values from warthunder?
I thought they made up their own values for basically all the aircraft they differed in some cases considerably from those in war thunder?
I personally found flying the MA 262 kind of nice because it has great view, And to me it seemed to handle quite nicely.
But honestly I haven’t spent that much time in it i’ve mostly been just trying to up my research for the Americans because I normally don’t play them very much.
cause if they used values from WT, jets would be useless. shit climb speed, shit turning rate and small maps where they cant even use their speed to outmaneuver prop fighters.
I LOVE the Japanese jet. Probably because it’s the one behaving the most like a jet:
it really doesn’t turn well. In fact it’s of all the jets the one that turns the LESS well.
But!
It’s the fastest by FAR. Also regain energy crazy fast.
It’s climb rate is as crazy as is the Meteor’s turn rate. Before you know it you’ll already be 2km up after a single vertical climb and still have around 300 TAS.
Got a big bomb… but diving with a jet that doesn’t turn well or pull up is not advisable
I’ve only flown in a couple of times like I said I’m mostly just trying to advance my American tech tree because I never use them but I have the American Jets, I bought the package, But from the American point of view yes I’ve seen those things go vertical and it’s pretty amazing once I reach my goals with the American Tech tree I will have to try the Japanese jet out a little bit more.
I have watched a lot of Japanese and German jets auger though I thought they were the normal suicide jockeys but maybe there’s more to it than that maybe it’s a skill issue.
And by skill I also mean maybe lack of experience with the plane
The thing is, and I feel is a mistake from the devs, is that they armed those jets with some of the most potent bomb loads in the game.
So of course, casual pilots will use those like glorified bombers… but… they are jets! They’re not meant to dive bomb, those shouldn’t be able to pull up easily (and as expected, don’t)…
But those pilots prefer using those over dedicated attackers… sadly.
I don’t really have a problem bombing with the Jets it’s just that you have a lot less time to orient yourself to the target because of your speed so despite the bombs being a lot bigger I’m not anywhere near as accurate with them as I would be with a smaller bomb from a slower plane.
But I almost never crash while bombing.
At least not with the American jets.
I normally don’t pay too much attention to this kind of stuff because the game is so far from reality in terms of performance at least realistic real world performance for most of its weapons systems not to mention the fact that most of the weapon systems in game never really saw service that I just kind of don’t pay attention to it because it just frustrates me I just play the game because it’s a game in fact it looks like World War two kind of is the beginning and end of its realism if we can use that word with straight face and this game in the same sentence
Sure your me-262 might do first circle in 18 seconds (enlisted criteria) but if you were to do infinite sustained circles, you’d have the war thunder value of 25+ sec (sustained)
Turn time is not some linear flat number
It all depends on your current speed, power to weight ratio, drag, wing loading
