That’s wonderful. But I think “Alternative History: The Alternative Russian Empire in World War I” would be more appropriate here.

Because I doubt that if the Russian Empire had survived until World War II, its weapons would have been very different from those of the USSR IRL. Most likely, Degtyaryov would still have created his DP and DPM, Tokarev his SVT, and so on.

This topic is a fantasy on the topic of what the weapons of the Russian Empire in WWII could have been, based on the weapons that existed during the WWI and the weapons projects of that time.

There would still be some differences. A different officer corps in the army with different tactics and different requirements for weapons.

It’s even interesting to think about who would have performed better in World War II: the USSR or an alternative Russian Empire?

Okay, I will post projects and documents here for the armament of the Alternative Russian Empire :dromedary_camel: :dromedary_camel: :dromedary_camel:

Panchenkov’s six-barrel machine gun of 1915

image
It was assumed that each of the six barrels would fire in turn, ensuring continuous fire at a lower temperature for each barrel. The machine gun barrels rotated around their axis, which was supposed to achieve a high rate of fire while reducing the load on each individual barrel. Theoretically, the Panchenkov machine gun could fire at a rate of up to 1,200 rounds per minute, which significantly exceeded the capabilities of most single-barrel machine guns of that time.

It is very unlikely if the same administrative apparatus will be preserved. Unless some crazy reforms have taken place in the past 20 years. But with same conventions, one can put forward the Republic of Tuva or the Mongolian army of Baron Ungern in this confrontation.

The project of six-barrel Mosin revolver of 1894

Mosin developed a new pistol cartridge for this revolver: loaded with Russian smokeless powder and a melchior bullet.

Drawing of a 3-line cartridge for the 1894 Mosin revolver

3-line cartridge for the Mosin revolver (left) compared to the cartridge for the 3-line Nagant revolver, model 1895. The image of the cartridges was created by V. Sukhnev based on a drawing by S. I. Mosin.

There are even some precise specifications:

  • Weight without cartridges: 1 pound 83 grains (about 750 grams);
  • Length of screw-in barrel: 3.5 inches (88.9 mm);
  • Length of rifled barrel: 1.8 inches (45.72 mm);
  • sighting line length: 3.3 inches (83.82 mm);
  • total number of parts: 45;
  • powder charge weight: 22.5 grains;
  • bullet weight: 7 grams;
  • initial bullet velocity at 12.5 m from the muzzle: 270 m/s (plus or minus 21 meters).

Yeahh myself I always imagined Tsarist WW2 Russia using the alternative weapons that were originally rejected by Reds, such as Bezruchko-Vysotsky or PDM-42 SMGs

Also WW2 Austro-Hungarian Empire would be super interesting, I was trying to design its tanks even in Sprocket but someone already did that better than I ever could.

FR though I wish the whites would have won instead of those long nosey backed barbarians. Constantinople would be taken back and I also wonder how Black Baron would do in WW2 as well

This is a kind multiverse where there was no Civil War. And there were no Nazis.
