Allow HMG to penetrate wood, but remove their ability to break sandbag walls

First off let me say i do not care about historical accuracy, as this by no means is a simulator. My only interest is in game balance.

The HMGs were a good addition to the game but have some sever balancing issues, the biggest of which is their ability to destroy sandbag walls instantly. Sandbag walls are one of the few tools that players have that can make some difference to their surroundings that might enable them to hold a position, or to advance to a position. So why does the HMG melt them instantly?

We were in a game on Berlin earlier, the long hallway with a bunch of sandbags, and we added another 20 or so to it. They set up a HMG at their end and cleared the entire hallway of all fortifications with a 3 second sweep of the HMG. After which we couldn’t move up through that hallway whatsoever, even using smoke to block their vision, they just kept sweeping back and forth with it, keeping us completely pinned in our spawn. (The other area was being constantly molotoved.)

Letting it punch through thin wooden walls is fine, being able to damage tanks is fine, but at least make sandbags work against it. Smoke is NOT enough.

The fact that they can damage tanks is a bit, Ridiculous, I do agree, though that the whole sandbag thing is a bit nuts, especially when I have to put multiple AP tank rounds into sandbags to get them to be destroyed.

I think they’ve got some adjusting to do with the heavy machine guns, as I mentioned in my other thread, their affect against aircraft is way over modeled, in the Pacific, the big problem with them is they can kill tanks faster than the tanks can kill the M13.

The reason for the absurd performance of the hmgs is because they gave them 10X the hitpower of standard machine guns. Only the German hmgs has the more reasonable damage of 35, all three others are 100+

Maybe tweaking that value down a little would help solve some of the issues hmgs have with over penetration and instantly breaking cover like sandbags
