Allow disassembly of "gear" i.e. grenades, packs, medkits

So there is a great system for directly converting bronze weapon orders into mines, grenades, and packs in the game. This makes it easy to logistically support your squads how you want. However, I find that I have ended up with a bunch of Medkits, Molotov Cocktails, and various and sundry other “gear” items I don’t need or want.

It would be nice to be able to disassemble them for “parts” like with the weapons. These “parts” could then be used to purchase other logistics items. It could be type specific, and it could be fairly inefficient. I.E. you could disassemble four molotov cocktails to get enough “parts” to get a frag grenade. Or you could disassemble four small ammo pouches to get enough parts for a large backpack.

Just some sort of system to turn some of the “junk” I now have into stuff I will actually use.

Medkids can be always used, just need a backpack, then soldiers can fight a little longer with good perks.

idk about the things like medkits and other gear but i wouldn’t disagree with being able to use my 200+ knifes as makeshift bayonets for my rifles

Don’t see how you can disassemble a med-kit to make a grenade??? I think this is too much of an abstraction …

It’s all an abstraction. But that’s why it could be type specific. Grenades for grenades. Packs for packs…etc.

Why would you have too much to begin with? That means you chose to have too much since almost all gear is from selective orders

not true. When you get new squads they come with things like Frag grenades and Molotov cocktails. I see no reason to use that when you have the option of Dynamite. Also you have access to limited stuff in the beginning and better stuff much later in the campaign.

Yeah - you could dismantle molotov’s into fuel for your tanks, and bandages for first aid kits! :upside_down_face:

seriously - what “parts” do you think you should get for dismantling a small grenade pouch?!!

Canvas and straps. What’s your point? It’s all silly game mechanics anyway. You disassemble a rifle with the same poor action as another rifle and somehow get parts to make the action better? It’s not like that makes any sense either.

Just curious as to why you are mocking the idea. It’s a game. All of this stuff is about grind and getting people to invest money. It’s all silly and arbitrary anyway. The academy system makes no sense. The “Parts” system makes no sense, realistically. Heck a Trooper II having different bonuses than a Trooper I makes no sense, realistically. It’s a game. I’m just trying to make it better for the player.

Mocking it because it seems silly of course.

You disassemble enough worn rifles you get some parts that are less worn than others to assemble into something that is a bit better than all the contributing items - it might not work like that IRL but it at least has a certain logic.

So seems perfectly reasonable to query how the logic works for this proposal. If it doesn’t then that’s worth knowing … and mocking.

So how about this, you turn it in for credit to buy new stuff. I mean, the concept is perfectly sound. Talking about silly little things like realism and logic in some sort of practical way vis a vis a grind mechanic is really quite silly. And worth mocking.

I still think this needs to happen. Right now the only useful grenade is the explosive pack. And I have half a dozen radios, about 20 hammers, and 138 knives that serve zero purpose.

I just want to address this again and add that I have a bunch of radios, hammers, mortars, and flamethrowers that cannot improve anything. They need to have a “GENERAL” category of disassembly that gives you bronze orders if you do enough it. Or allow enough disassembled knives be used to upgrade to an axe, enough disassembled pistols could be used to get a better pistol. It can be really steep, but this junk is just clutter at this point. I would like to see SOMETHING come out of it.
