Morning, So i’ve been flying a lot of planes lately, is it just me or are they kinda… wonky? like, sometimes bombs feel like an absolute nuke, and other times they dont seem to do anything at all, and when it comes to shoot down planes, well, sometimes you just look at them and they die, other times, you can fill them with bullets and they dont seem dammaged at all and keeps flying like nothing ever happend?
They are.
Ahhh ok, so isnt just me then, i feel tanks aswell are about the same, sometimes they just oneshot like mad, other times? cant do anything, was playing my Jumbo last night, faced off a Tiger 1, he wreckt me time after time, however, i couldnt even penetrate him, then for the lol i rushed him with my M5A1 Rihno, and somehow, i pierced the tinger frontally, killing one of his crewmembers
Tanks are generally more consistent, although not shenanigans-free.
Bombs are powerful, but ground conformation can shield the enemy from damage.
The damage model of air to air combat is just boked, instead.
Ahh yeah
ive seen, but i mean, i took a bomb, not sure what bomb, some american bomb, i ducked behind a wooden crate,b omb landed just short of me, i survived, im not sure a player should survive a bomb landing almaost on him by behind behind a wooden crate tho
and booked? im not sure i understand?
Sorry, autocorrector hit there.
I meant borked. Screwed, random, f***ed up, nonsensical.
Ahhh i see, yeah, they are, maybe in the future itll be changed, hopefully =)
I agree that tanks can be more consistent, just depends on where you hit them. I recommend looking thru the tank armor for any tank that you feel you struggle against as it will show you the weak points and crew.
I mainly fly and yeah flying can be a little shaky, so I def recommend using the mouse mainly and tapping your keys when turning. I also try to aim for engines and the seams of the wings where they connect to the body to break them off. Most fighters go down like this no problems but those bombers definitely can take quite a few hits.
Plane bombs can be hit or miss but it can depend on the payload size and whether the people you are bombing are smart enough to take cover correctly. Or sometimes you just missed and overshot but didn’t notice.
In fact, there’s hardly any way besides the killfeed to know where your bombs actually landed compared to where you expected them to go. You can’t look straight back, and by the time you turn around, even the smoke is often dissipated already.
true enough, but påayload size, i hardly ever get kills with my 250kg bomb, or 500kg bomb for the stukas, but the 50kg bombs i seemto have much more success with, as i generally seem to kill with those, even large quantities of enemies, where the 250 and 500 seem to do nothing at all, and if i get a kill, its like one or two soldiers that goes down, same for tanks, i seem to have more successs hitting with the 50kg than bigger bombs on enemy tanks, wich kinda seem weird to me, especially if i am allowed to compare the bomb dammage with War Thunder
Some of the inconsistencies in the air to air and air to ground action I think are due to hit registration and lag, I’ve actually shot down planes that I never actually thought that I hit for instance because I got no indicator from the game that I was scoring hits but the plane was shot down and I got the kill for it and there was nobody else around but me.
And I’m talking about planes that were in front of me the whole time not planes that my gunner shot down
As far as dropping bombs on things goes as noted above any deviation in the terrain or obstruction like a wall from a building is going to protect your target, that’s why if you’re using a thank you want to park next to the side of the building as close as you can and use cover as much as you can because it will make it harder for the guy trying to kill you with a bomb
Another suggestion and perhaps an obvious one is don’t trust the red marks because The enemy is often somewhere other than where they were marked by the time you get to them, and sometimes when you’re placing marks on the ground you don’t actually wind up placing them exactly where the enemy is/was, once you start flying over the maps on a regular basis you’ll get to know the path that the enemy generally takes, most players flock to the objective like lemmings so their pathing is pretty predictable
And the air to air weapons are not terribly well modelled according to what I’ve read here they’ve been nerfed considerably compared to their war thunder values
i mean yes, i know the paths people usually use, ive even seen full squads right where i place my bombs, and if bombing is even just simulare to how war thunder bombs work, my bombs SHOULD have hit them pretty spot on as i am a decent bomber in War Thunder, and is very used to flying in firstperson due to my nature of only flying in sim in WT, i learned to bomb using the cockpit, but here? they just never seem to go where i want them, and i cant for the sake of me figger out why and its annyoing me
According to Quadro opinion, the random way you damage a plane is linked to a bad synchronization of the server.
I think that’s also why the plane target sometime jump.
I always hate it when my 1000lbs bomb bounces off a tank.
I hate it when hte aircraft wallows like a slippery whale on ice and won’t follow control inputs.
Never seen a bomb bounce off a tank - ever, any size.
