3 years on and still no significant ai progress. No player is holding development. Devs are unable to develop a good ai. Simple as that.
The thing is though, the explosive packs need to be removed not just because of the AI concern, but also because they are the primary reason that tanks never move forward to actually support their team anymore.
Think about it: if it were just TNT and AT weapons that players used against tanks, the tanks would be able to push up with infantry and actually have a chance to survive a frontal attack (as they are supposed to).
The issue is that Explosive packs completely remove the need to flank, find high ground, or get very close, therefore making tanks completely unable to survive up close.
Tons of people complain about tanks sitting in the greyzone, but nobody seems willing to give up the explosive packs to begin to solve the issue.
Nope. You are the only one who is complaining that you cannot use tank as an armoured car.
Tanks are always more effective at long distance - it is normal in real life and in the game.

Cooked grenade is a danger to you and your comrades. So it should draw attention of the AI the same way it draws attention of a player.
I could say the same. I didnāt expect my resonable suggestion (see threat = shoot threat) to face any oposition. I forgot that ppl here preffer bot farming over reason.

Way I understand AI responsiveness, they react to things that make āsoundā.
That āsoundā shouldnāt be taken by its literal sense. Itās a catchall for any action that would make an AI look in a particular direction. Namely, and usually, shooting.
In that regard, Iām not certain if the action of preparing/cooking a grenade generates āsoundā the same way firing a gun in automatic would.
This suggestion could be implemented by simply making the act of cooking a grenade an unending source of āsoundā until it is thrown.
Frankly, as long as the bots donāt literally wallhack you for cooking a grenade from behind cover, Iām fine with any improvements to AI.
Well, I am willing to remove the explosive pack in exchange for a mechanism that does not allow tanks to be in the gray zone.
But the tanks are losing even more in this transaction.
Tanks in the gray zone are immune to all explosive packs, TNTs, and even AT launchers. AT launchers are difficult to hit from a long distance, and even if hit, they may not cause effective damage (while attacks from the side are fatal even to the King Tigers). Moreover, in the sights of the driver, these launchers are very conspicuous and can be promptly killed to eliminate danger. The gray zone provides excellent protection for tanks, not just immunity to explosives.
However, personally, I agree with deleting the explosive packs and tank gray zones. After all, I am an infantry player, but tank enthusiasts may not find this balance adjustment very acceptable.

And even if ex pack removed, tanks will still camp grey zone, no ex packs tanks would come out. BFS

Regarding a request to modify a game, it is normal for some to agree and others to disagree.
Itās impossible everyone will have the same opinion as you, If all the responses you receive when you make a proposal are in agreement, you may doubt whether you are in some kind of Trumanās world.
Or you can have this mentality: if my enemy oppose what I am doing, then it means I have done the right thing; if a friend oppose me, then they have become enemies
point would be that AI donāt even kill a enemy 2ft in front of them, but you want them to target HE/Ex packs,
but no one likes bots just turning and shooting people from a distance,
yet, you want them to conveniently shoot at players with ex packs/HE,

This is objectively a good mechanic - soldiers shoot at a danger. I donāt care if implementing it hurts someones feelings because they canāt slaughter enemies like Anakin in the Jedi Temple.
I never insisted on nerfing bots. Qite the oposite, I always wanted to give them more unitlity and make them more combat capable. Of course I didāt want them to snipe ppl through the whole map through bushes either.

Things I wanted to nerf were:
- explosive packs (because they were the ultimate greanade)
- SMGs (because they made all other weapons obsolete)
- plane bombs (because they could map wipe back then)
- arty (when it was unlimited and spammed)
- Probably also something else but it was so minor I donāt even remember.
Trully horific things that completelly werenāt busted.

The problem is that sometimes devs actually listen to some of the suggestions. For example - that tanks should be used in role of armored cars (as shield for infantry) or - that explosion packs should bounce like basketballs.
That is why for some time tanks engine power were nerfed:
This ruined this map, because Germans could not use tanks to defend first objective, but also - Allies could not use tanks to help with capture next objectives. Tanks were crowding in small valleys and were useless.
Same with explosion packs:
Luckily - this was fixed and I appreciate that.
The same applies here - āAI should target you more, the more you cook the grenadeā.
Why ? Because (according to VoyoMay) - āplayer is also more likely to target an enemy who is aiming him for a longer timeā.
No - āshooting at playerā - just āaiming in silenceā same like a cooked grenade.
My point is that - we have a freedom of speech and opinion, but - many people who like and play the game are silent here, while people who are the most active here are a small minority⦠and very often - they are pesters.
