AI suppression

Imo it’s dump that 8 of my bots will stand still and get slaughtered (even 5* ones) by one enemy.
So here is my proposal:

  • when not shot at, AI should have good accuracy. Lets say 90% of shots hit the target. Maybe also it should be more likely to shoot (I don’t know if it’s doable).
    I mean that when they shoot, they hit. Not that they will see you through bushes.
  • when they are shot at, they get slight debuff. 70-80% shots hit.
  • when under heavy fire (MG fire or even mass bolt action rifles fire) they miss quite a lot (what we have now basically). Enemy fire has to last for a while, so that one burst won’t make your squad useless (also it will prevent weapons like f-ing FG42 from suppressing).

Thanks to that, one enemy will have hard time to kill everyone in your squad without additional support.
Also it might add additional value to strafing runs made by planes, as they will suppress the enemies.

Take note that it won’t affect player at all

Ideally AI should seek for cover under heavy fire but it seems devs don’t know how to do that (at least for now), as stances were meant to have aggressive, passive and defensive stance.

Probably should be giving them orders instead of just having them follow you

AI are already quite good at hitting their shots when they get them off, giving AI more power is probably not the best idea, lest the less experienced players get slaughtered by a 5 star AI with a semi auto

Still giving the AI a really high shooting ability

An FG-42 is perfectly capable of suppressing, it was meant to blur the line between a rifle and an LMG

All it would take is a single sniper to out range them or a guy with an SMG to get behind them

Making the AI super prone to suppression isn’t the worst idea, but strafing is already as useful as it can be until we get something like an A-26 with 14 .50cals in the nose

Oh, it will heavily affect players

The AI is continuously being improved, these will be non-issues in time as the AI becomes more sophisticated

from what i heard AIs always fire their first shot as a warning shot at longer ranges(1st shot guaranteed miss)
at close ranges they just oneshot you

Where do I find order “shoot the guy”? Or rather “shoot and actually hit”?

I have never seen that. Unless you are talking about full AI squads that are terminators.

And it was meant to be for paratroopers.
If it was only for gunners, I dould be ok with giving it ability to supress. But it’s a “rifle” that everybody can have so it will “supress” like a rifle.

Yes. And it’s a sugestion that is meant to do exactly that. Improve AI.

I have seen this maybe a few times. Mostly it’s a slaughter.

the best you have is marking the enemy location. the bost will look there and(hopefully) shoot

My bots are shooting, enemy bots are shooting, but they aren’t hiting anything.

There is no such order, and I doubt there ever will be that level of squad command

Go play a custom battle, watch the AI fight each other, they’re not completely useless as you seem to think

You can suppress with bolt action rifles, suppressing an enemy is not constantly keeping bullets flying over their head, its making them know that if they poke their head up, its getting shot

It will affect players directly

Its a suggestion to improve not how the AI fights, but to give the AI arbitrary buffs to accuracy because your AI aren’t performing up to your standards.

So your sugestion:

has exactly 0 value.

So you are talking about full AI terminator squads. I’m talking about player controled squads.

I included it in my sugestion so what’s the point?

But it should affect players as well, but smgs should not inflict suppression as much

I’m suggesting you tell your AI to get behind cover manually using the lovely individual order system

You don’t, you’re not a game developer employed by Darkflow and working on Enlisted
instead you say “I would like AI to be better at shooting back” and not give percentages

We had discusions about player suppression and it looks like most of forum users don’t want it. I won’t argue, that much.

Bullet spread should lessen the suppresion at longer ranges. As for close range, SMGs should supress.

I could make sugestions like: “game bad, fix it” but imo it’s childlish and pointless.
This forum section is called “suggestions”, that’s why I’m making suggestions instead of complains.
And numbers are only to visualise what I mean. They can be changed at any time, they are just numbers.

My AI have no issue with shooting players or enemy AI, perhaps you should be making a bug report instead of a suggestion

Good that you understand that, the overall suggestion would need to be reviewed by the devs, as they have numbers we don’t on the effectiveness of AI

I just give sugestions. It’s up to devs if they’ll implement them or not.

Perfectly fair, that is what this forum is after all, people giving suggestions and people then giving their opinions on said suggestions, and nobody here has an opinion better than anyone else’s.
