its just sad to see how a single enemy soldier can wipe out whole squad, the problm is in bots just standing and playing to be a reserve for a player, only thing enemy needs to do is to watch for which soldier is aiming on him (player only) and kill that soldier, even bolt action rifles have enough rpm to wipe out one by one until nobody is left, so, for god’s sake make AI do something when there is a camper shooting upon them
the other example is how stabbing with your weapon is deadly to enemy squad, you can just come and stab everyone in enemy squad while soldiers cant do anything to protect them from the hit
Yes the AI accuracy is very lackluster, there’s really no point in upgrading them when they just act like a resqawn point, I have had a couple of times when I and my bots were stationary, not a single enemy was killed even though they were only about 20-50 metres away
They need to make it so certain soldiers are proficient in certain weapons, if they’re a rifleman they are very accurate when using a bolt action rifle at mediim-long range and the same with a semi automatic rifle, assualters with smgs and fully automatic rifles are effective at close to medium range and so fourth.
AI is a bit of a mixed bag to me. Sometimes they don’t respond to obvious threats at all, sometimes they 360 noscope some random guy in a bush 300m down the road. They need a bit more consistency
i have tried kar98 some random russian infantry 100m away, to receive 100% accuracy return fire in less than 3 seconds. at least nerf the AI accuracy after some certain distance
The AI is completely inconsistent : sometimes it completely miss someone at less than 10m and sometimes it oneshot everyone through 5 layers of bushes. It’s a constant russian russian roulette werether you are gonna kill the AI or if it gonna 360 noscope you.
Overall I don’t like this system of IA squad : you are constantly jumping into swarm of IA, the IA is often pushing you which make you miss your shots, the bots are standing still then straff left, right and center for no reason and you are constantly spamming grenades / explosives left and right to get rid of the swarm.
I would really prefer if there was no bots at all. I mean what’s the point if 70/80% of the teams are bots ?
the AI squads is what makes this game diffrent from games like H&G, post scriptum, etc. If you don’t like the feature, one of those games might be more your taste. Right now, it makes the game feel much more alive as there are up to 10v10x7=140 soldiers running around at any given time, instead of 32 in the 16v16 modes from H&G.
I’m pretty sure the higher the soldiers level the better the AI perform, my gunners at level 4 seem to be crack shots, perhaps accuracy is tied to soldier level and stars
I think the AI really need to be worked on. Just 10 minutes ago i was playing and I saw this AI which healed itself up and as soon as it stood up it shot at me and killed me. It didn’t even have a delay and the shot was dead accurate. The response time is non-existed in most cases. AI seems so powerful when u face it, but when it’s on your team it does nothing but get in your way. If you assign them a point, they die in two seconds without even capturing the point. We need some rework
I really think it boils down to the experience of your AI 3 star maxed soldiers are a lot more accurate than a 1 star soldier. Also. Stationary ai tend to perform better too. So ordering to stay at a point in the rear in a overwatch position tends to net better results
I’ve definitely noticed a major improvement In Ai aim since day one. The first day of testing when everyone had low level ai. They would get completely slaughtered.
Having 80% of the soldiers being bots for the sake of the game being more alive works the first 50h. Then you start to grow bored because 80% of the time you are shooting at bots.
Instead of having a team of 70 players working together to win against the other team of 70 players you have a big blobs of 7 guys fighting big blobs of 7 guys. You can barely flank because there is blobs everywhere, you spam grenades / explosives like an idiot because it’s your best bet to deal with the blobs and when you have delt with one blob, an other just spawned in.
It’s a mess for the sake of being a mess without any teamwork being involved (apart if you are playing with friends). Proof being that apart a couple of insults, I saw absolutely nothing written in the tchat.
I like the game, it’s fun and I already played ~25h this week. But will I continue on this kind of gameplay “all I’m doing is shooting at bots and sometimes a player” ?. Certainly not and I don’t think a lot of people will.
70 players is unfeasable with networking, the AI are learning so they will get better over time. I personally enjoy the gameplay and will stick around with this game for hours.
The AI will only improve with time, and I’m pretty sure they will eventually add more tactics to ai, such as formation change, seeking cover, moving independently etc, early stages at the moment, and I quite enjoy it,
I never rush in with my ‘’ blob’ often leaving them behind whilst I scout or push, pushing with a blob is a easy way to get your blob killed.
The AI will also come into play when larger maps (think cuisine Royal) come into play, its the only way to ensure that the map feels alive and like a real battlefield, without having to populate the server with 70v70 actual players.
Exactly, the network can’t handle it so they have to rely on bots to create those “massive battle”.
“Hey guys, our network isn’t good enough to handle more than 30 players but don’t worry there is 7 bots you can shoot at for every player in the game !”
You think a majority of people will say “It’s no big deal, I like shooting at bots anyway” ? Nobody is gonna say that. Players wants to fight other players in a PvP game, not a majority of bots that pretends to act like players (and learning AI won’t change a thing about that).
We will see, there is lot of works to do before release but don’t be surprised that only a couple hundred of players will stay on the game 2 months after release because “shooting at bots isn’t that fun in fact”.
Only (battle royale) games with heavy duty servers are capable of going above maybe 10v10. Those kind of servers are very expensive and not commercially viable for most games. To go be sarcastic to try and prove your point adds nothing to this discussion.
Also, enlisted is both a PvP and a PvE game. There are plenty of purely PvE games that are very successful (warframe for example)
I think I prefer the whole bot scenario to make gameay feel like an actual war. Yes at the moment the AI isn’t the best, but it will eventually get there
Who knows, as the game progresses perhaps there will be pure pvp matches.
I love the pve idea, and personally I don’t care whether Im shooting a bot or a player. I tend to not even think about it.
Once this game kicks off, which I believe it will, perhaps serves get upgraded too,
The early days of war thunder were the same. Bot tanks rolling around to create the elusion of a big battle. Before we had large lobby sizes. I think the max we had back in the day was 5/7v 5/7
the AI needs some standards i tought they work by acquiring target (like locking another plane on war thunder), then pull out random shooting range of a player (copied shooting from player)
and then shoot exactly same way (same error as player’s)? but this would be unreliable as well…
so why not to get some kind of average accuracy out of all thoose copied shootings and try giving it to bot’s logic?
