please, can the AI in every squad take the path the player takes to the point where they want them to " at all cost defend that position" for example the AI always go around and find a door opening instead of what the player used to get inside the area using a window cause if they go around and use the door they end up in a position to just get dropped by enemy fire. if anyone else has examples of these sitautions place them in chat. hopefully this can be worked on.
Ai actually try to flank the place from all direction for defeat the enemy, or spread in different position for defend, the results is another matter, but we need ask for make better this type of approch instead of discard it for the classic Ai duck walking behind the player
oh i do there was this instance on Normandy where i flanked just wanted to get my troops in to the bunker but they went all the way around to use the door, instead of using the giant hole from a bomb that hit the bunker and allowed me to just jump in, you must understand where im coming from the ai should be able to scale what the player scales is all im saying, it infuriates me when im halling 8 teammates all for them to get chopped down becuase they just didnt scale or use the path i took.
I think it could be like AI should follow your steps by default, and only spreading and flanking if you told them to (mark an objective, a building or any other place). Not only it woudl’ve made more sense, but on top of that there would be work done in term of marking an attack. Right now when you mark an objective for your AI to attack they will try to get as close to the center as possible, and not neceserly safest positions to start capturing. This is a big issue i’ve noticed, my squad just rush in without taking any cover. They SHOULD begin to seek cover as soon as they’re in capturing zone…
AI pathfinding is well known to be seriously messed up.
