So far I’ve played casually and competitively. For beginners or casual players the ai seems fairly balanced. It’s gratifying to be able to jump in and get a lot of kills. If you’re bent on taking advantage of the ai and half tracks seem to boost the ai response time making them a lot more deadly.
Now I’d say if I’m just a base casual player I’d hate to see the game turn into a ai slaughterhouse where I can’t move without getting killed by even more skillful ai. Any updated to improve ai response time overall could be a mistake especially if we are trying to keep a majority of our casual player base. BUT to those that our skillful and want to take the effort of AI the next idea could be a good balance for everyone.
Simply put, no overall increase for ai response time. Add a point and click control that points your ai to a directed area. Make a field of view window/cone that has a slightly higher response time to the rest of their surroundings.
No overpowered ai. Make the control a hot key that’s not automatically enabled as part of the rest of the controls. Keep the casual part of the game mostly intact. Give us ai oriented players more control and power with our squads
in practice range, we spawn, all look one way,
i turn 45deg left, lay a mark, they all still face the way they looking,
they don’t look until, i look, then a few turn
In game not noticing it all.
I know that a lot of people will notice that bots are already paying attention to markers, whenever I tried to suggest something like that, I was more about an order that would only be visible to me. I wouldn’t want to confuse my team with the markers I placed for my bots as a preventive measure. This could make squads like gunner, sniper etc. to be much more effective in covering some alley or route to a point. It would add an additional aspect of commanding a squad, which would make the gameplay more casual-friendly
I will note that there is an issue currently with AI being omniscient in a way though too.
I especially noticed it the other day where I stopped behind some buildings and was regaining stamina, and watched 2 of my AI both focused on the other side of the wall, their guns were pointing as if they were directly watching someone move across. I ordered them to stay, and they continued to do that same thing. I popped around the side of the wall and sure enough, there was a guy moving around the flank, not firing a shot about 40-50m to the side.
