A lot of the maps in Berlin are either too small, too illogical or both.
For example: The objectives in Lerther Banhof being way too close together and on other maps, The objectives being in the middle on an open road.
Small maps are horrible to play since the grey zones allow zero movement infront of the obj, and to have to sit on and capture the middle of an open road is just plain stupid and impossible most of the times.
I feel like Berlin is the worst campaign currently in the game and it could be way better if objectives weren’t placed this horribly.
Open objectives are not unique to Berlin and in my humble opinion those maps are rather well designed, they offer a good mix of outdoor and indoor objectives with lots of cover, buildings do great job at keeping tanks and aircraft away.
Normandy campaign has less “open” objectives but many of them are just small houses, they are effectively worse than a big open area since everyone is forced to cram inside making them easy targets for HE shells and rockets.
If you have a specific location in mind and a way to improve on it, than shoot, but believe me, Darkflow will not redesign entire maps.
Is my humble opinion that map don’t need a redesign, when just need a bigger game mode with more capture point per section, bigger map area and so able to host more player and a better vehicle gameplay
I think objectives in general should be larger. It would be one small step in improving gameplay since most objectives are just one tiny crammed building.
Berlin in general should have a new mode where the whole actual city map is used, starting with soviet attacking from the bridge and slowly close toward the Reichstag, kroll opera house like in real life, with German player able to push back toward the train station behind the bridge and win
The least they can do on that map is extend out the maps general gray zone, in my personal opinion for both teams it feels highly claustrophobic with the amount of space you have to move. It’s also ridiculously easy and fast to get a tank into an area where the enemy spawns and lock the other team out of spawning entirely by spamming AP shells.
What I mean by general Gray zone is push one team a little farther back, Even if they only make the map go back an extra 100m It’s enough time to be able to set up rally points or move out of spawn. This would still keep the indoor/outdoor playstyle but have a little more movement room without feeling is claustrophobic. A map of this size currently would be suited for 5v5 But if it was pushed out just a little it could easily incorporate 10v10 without issue.
Doing this wouldn’t require you to have to rework the entire map It just opens up the play zone a little with what’s already there.
Sadly it is not currently possible because they have divided berlin in 2 separate maps. First map has bahnhof, möltke, kroll and reichstag while the second has villa, embassy, wilhelmstrasse, chancellery and ministry garden.
They would need to combine the maps to make it possible
