Affordable prices for different regions

Hello,

As we know, Enlisted gold is not cheap (even for middle-class players from developed countries), which is very unfortunate since the paid content tends to be much better than F2P stuff (understandably).

We need to take into consideration the economic disparities faced by people from different countries. Latin American middle-class players do not have the same purchasing power as American and European middle-class players. The game exacerbates this issue by charging the same fees to all these players. For example, $50 in America might not be much, but in Brazil, that’s about 25% of the minimum wage. I want to mention some good points of this argument:

  • Different regions have distinct economic conditions and standards of living. Implementing a uniform price across all regions might result in some players facing disproportionate financial burdens. By adjusting the price according to the purchasing power of each region, The Snail can ensure that the cost of gold remains reasonable and accessible to players from diverse economic backgrounds.

  • Lowering the barrier to entry by offering game currency at affordable prices in certain regions can boost player engagement. If we can purchase game currency at prices aligned with our economic realities, we are more likely to invest in the game and remain active in the long term. This benefits us, the players, who can enjoy a more fulfilling gaming experience, and developers, who can maintain a dedicated player base. Affordable content = more buyers.

But I also know that the world is not a perfect place, and some people would try to violate the system, create accounts in regions with lower prices (compared to USD), buy stuff just to sell the account later. There should be some restrictions to prevent people from abusing this mechanism, such as:

  • Instead of keeping the prices low (remember, for other regions) all year round, maybe The Snail should have sales at the end of the season only.
  • Users would have to prove that they indeed live in those countries (game ID-IP? Local payment methods only?).
  • Prevent users from creating several accounts (not sure if this already exists).

Thank you for your time. Let me know what you think of this suggestion, and please be civil in the comments.

I agree completely. People from all countries should be able to enjoy the game in the same way.

how about sane prices for everyone. Its been beyond stupid here.

In fact, it is relatively expensive. To get some premier squads, I paid enough to buy several full-priced games.

it’s a carefully thought out plan to destroy ones own creation

Fully priced games that were just reskins of their predecessor with less content :stuck_out_tongue:

Yep, 500 bucks medium monthly salary says hello, if not for Gaijin coins gold is just unaffordable, if I want to eat. Some positions in the store are relatively cheaper in my currency though, comparing to coin pricing, still doesnt help much, tough life.

if only we could teach gaijin to read and think, everything would be fine

No thank you President Xi, I don’t want to give my ID to play a game.

Regional pricing will lead to people being salty because their region is charged more than some other regions.
Some people take pride in not paying for a F2P game. Instead of regional pricing DF should lower the price for their premium squad. Once people made a first time purchase to a F2P game they’re more emotionally invested and they’re likely to make more purchases with time.

DF should focus on broadening the amount of players making purchases rather than squeezing harder on the smaller number of premium players. Most F2P games already have like 80%-90% of people who never pay, most of game as a service companies make their money through the purchase of premium time. Lowering the price of premium squads will increase the conversion rate for people making purchases, it’s a win-win for everyone.

Hi, I meant “ID” as game the game ID, which would need to be associated with an IP in that specific country. I’ll fix it xD. I also agree with the rest, frankly it’s overpriced for everyone

Currently, whenever a Japanese player wants to purchase something on Enlisted, they must purchase e-money from DMMcom, the publisher of Enlisted games in Japan, and pay with that e-money. There is no option to purchase content or gold directly from GAIJIN with a credit card or general e-money.

I don’t know how payments to Enlisted outside of Japan are structured, but in any case, if you can limit payment methods by region as you can in Japan, you could adjust prices by region.

I hope they will be able to make the shopping experience fair for anyone living in any country. And please lower the price of overpriced contents a little more.

That’s because we paid “taxes” for F2P players so they too could still enjoy this game for free. :man_shrugging:
I really dont understand why is it so popular to compare f2p concept with serversless, not live service, (old) AAA titles (during steam sales), it’s not much relevant fact. Comparing to classic asian gacha games would make sense, but it wouldn’t look so cool. :man_shrugging:

Btw. Response to OP:
This concept would never work. Everyone would just use VPN to get some African prices or something like that, completely killing income of whole game.
Its way better to just wait for sales, you can literally buy everything 50% off during certain time. If this isn’t good enough for you, it’s kinda shame, sorry.

This would be impossible in lot of countries, very naive thinking. Low economy countries would get their low prices, but the gamw couldn’t be available in some rich countries at all, lmao.
Plus it’s very socialistic mindset, very disgusting. I don’t want to share my ID with foreign corporation for the sake of some guy that could buy something cheaper than me.

The Asian “gacha” was originally a small lottery sold to children in which $1 was placed in a machine to purchase a capsule containing a small toy. You could not choose what was in the capsule, but it was a small amount and the number of toys in the machine was limited, so probabilistically you could always get what you wanted if you invested more than a dozen dollars. I loved it as a child.
But in the digital age, “gacha” is just evil. I wish it would die. It gives you the right to invest tens of dollars and draw once, with a very low chance of getting what you want. But the odds are astronomical, and the inventory of digital goods is not decreasing. What this means is that no matter how much you invest, the odds of getting a rare item never increase. Some people invest thousands of dollars before they get what they want, but they are either very rich or madmen. And those games have a game design that creates lunatics, a milking machine that squeezes money out of its users. Digital devils. It is like sending your wallet to the ■■■■■!! :rage: :rage: :rage:

Now I am getting overexcited. Please wait a few seconds as I suck on my inhaler.
Wait a few seconds.

…okay.

Anyway, comparing Enlisted with such Asian ”Gacha” is wrong. At least Enlisted is doing a fair business, albeit at a premium, where you can pay a few bucks and get what you want. If you want to compare it, it doesn’t matter if it is F2P or full price game, you should compare it with DLC sales of games. Even then, it is relatively expensive compared to the content…
If it is a tax to prolong the life of a game with a poor player base, well, I pay it as I must.

XDD good one, but your post could be censored… ehm… moderated, watch out.

It does matter it’s F2P, cuz lot of players can legally use servers (in this case hamsters) they didn’t pay for, to play game they didn’t pay for. That’s all. There’s nothing like this in AAA titles. Yes, they could just steal it… :man_shrugging: But I don’t think its comparable to playing F2P game as F2P player.

Actually the problem is not the regional pricing, 1y of premium and the battlepass are a fair purchase in almost all the country, the problem here is pay 60$ for 4 man with a skin

The solution is simple

Lower premium squad price there is no sense they are so overpriced, 1 of them have the same price of a AAA game

I don’t things this is problem as well since we have 50% sales very regularly + there’s lot squads whose price is way lower than 60 USD even without sales.

But I know my opinion of enlisted’s pricing is very unpopular here (cuz I think it’s pretty okay), so my opinions will be flagged and most likely moderated.

Well, comparing F2P games to AAA is off the main topic of the thread.
Assuming the analogy you make is true… if content is set at a premium for those who care about playing for free, that’s still fine by me. It is similar to the welfare system that keeps society going. But this is not the main issue either.

The problem is that the price of goods varies from country to country. Even if it is difficult to do so immediately, DF will need to pay attention to the selling price in each country if we want more people to enjoy paid content.

That’s not problem of DF, that’s the problem of those countries. Do you want to sell Ferraris in Africa for 10 bucks too or what? I don’t support this left wing mindset. That’s just not how world should work.
If someone cannot afford something, he shouldn’t get some special treatment just because he is poor. That’s not how capitalism works.

20$+ for a single premium unit is insanity, how does a small “part content” even dare to cost as much as a stand alone full game?

I am seriously questioning how the devs are even making money with this madness.

Yeah, it’s insane you can play this game completely for free and only so delibetely small part of content is behind paywall. Just because some other guys are supporting it with their money. :man_shrugging:
Cry more, kid.
