i’ve already made similar suggestion (Squad orders using maps), but i will write it more detailed now
let us control squad through map, sometimes it is impossible to tell squad where to go due to uneven terrain
let us draw lines on map, on which squad would position, here is a screenshot of how that would look from some other game, the green dots indicate where units will position themself (since one cannot be so precise on the map, squad would on default position themself near the line):
let us issue multiple orders by order, for example (1. position squad on line 2. position yourself on other line (assaults, right?)
let us issue orders to fortify in (multiple) buildings
let us issue orders to fortify in an area (draw a circle in the map or just press some button and click and drag, as circle appears and grows, then release when its large enough)
let us issue orders to entrench (soldiers with shovels dig a ditch to hide in)
let us issue orders for squad to assist friendly armored vehicles (protect them from attempts to harm them)
let us draw line on the map, which squad follows as the path, from point A, to point B (mainly to speed up the process and details, when compared to orders followed in order)
let us set up squad member survival chance hierarchy in menu, for example, if i put troopers on low and enginner on high, engineer would attempt to stay behind and engage only when needed, while troopers would be the cannon-fodder, this system turns off or adjusts itself (so members with higher priority would engage more often), if too few squad members are alive
build orders; instead of having to control engineer, i would be always able to use build menu from any soldier in the squad, as long as i have enginner in the squad, when i place a building (in the same manner as i would from engineer) blueprint is placed and engineer rushes to build it, this would allow for building more complex system of buildings while not wasting all my time doing it (i also believe this is why newer players dont build rallies: it feels time consuming)
since so much possibilities of orders would cause enlisted to became essentially action-rts game, i think it would be good if squad spotted soldiers that they are ENGAGING (also, since this would mean that there would be markers everywhere (and this would break feeling of realism), so someting needs to be done about how markers appear)
then whats the point of even having bots? right now they are just used to either be cannon fodder (and they do even this role rather poorly) or as a reserve soldiers for one to play once he dies
btw, im sure many people would use it, if you have on your mind that nobody would know for such feature; ever heard of tutorials?
They still shoot. They can rack up quite a lot of kills if you play around their strengths. People expect player leve performance but when they have that they find it unfun and unfair to play against them.
It depends on the situation. I had bots easily rack up 10 kills. Usually it takes 1) not moving a lot/telling them to stay at a place and 2) pinging enemy positions. The second one is the most important one since bots get quite a significant accuracy and detection buff towards the direction of your pings. Also apparently if you ping tree times in a direction the bots will instantly look at that way and will have a higher chance to detecting enemies and shooting them.
The main problem with bots is that they struggle with pushin situations. If you need to run at a point and capture it, they are cannon fodders unfortunately.
I LOVE these, especially something as simple as Entrench, game could have something in the code that says super simple, “If soldier in squad has shovel, then equip, point minimum Y axis, and fire weapon 3 times” That would give a super simple hole for that one soldier, up to 60% more cover, possibly hiding the squad if you are trying to flank and constantly being seen by other players. This would also not really have any issues because if they are in a building or near an object that can’t be dug near then it won’t do anything. Would be super helpful in those maps where you are attacking/defending a forest objective
The other side of this is the feeling of not constantly losing(Not gamewise, mental wise) I highly enjoy games that have mixes of bots and humans because you’ll usually not be the best player, someone will be better than you eventually. The problem with some campaigns is that if there are a few moderate players on that team, then you will constantly die and become frustrated and quit. This happened to me with War Thunder. It just feels crappy when you are in a game and losing with no hope and then at the end have no experience to even compensate for that time lost. I feel War Thunder was the game that did this so bad, and Enlisted improved so much and incentivises you to keep going all the way to the end for battle rewards and XP even if you lose. Bots help that even more for XP gain. Otherwise this game would lose the players it has and would die because the grind would be unbearable.
its almost 4 months on
and literally nothing was done about it
i made a thread just now about why on earth the bots run back to you when you are 200 feet away
ridiculous, totally ridiculous scripting
as i said on my thread how is that logical that you would give soldiers an order but soon as you dissapear inside for a coffee or you cross a river the soldiers say oh we cant see captain anymore lets run back and try to find him!
ORDERS ARE ORDERS!
