Let’s all have a chat at the beginning.
Enlisted is a free to play game, and depends on active monetization in order to keep itself going.
The issue starts when those “Purchases” start giving players actual advantages over the ones that want to enjoy playing the game for free.
Enlisted opened it’s doors as a public beta 2 months ago, yet we already have:
- Premium Currency
- Battlepass
- Premium Time
- Restriced access to content
We still have Day 0 balance issues that haven’t been resolved, but rather overshadowed with new content (remind you of anything?).
Now let’s get to the point:
Purchase of Premium Time gives a player an additional slot for an infantry and a vehicle squad which is an advantage in any possible way.
While free player has to choose between a Tank or a plane, a premium time user can bring both of the units into a match, making them more versatile and giving them a chance to fight both vehicle types.
Same applies to infantry, no matter what you say, having an option to bring in an extra unit does make a difference to your playstyle.
Now, how do we fix it? - In general there are only 2 approaches:
Option A - Make squad size upgrade a part of campaign tree:
Give players option to unlock size upgrade through typical grind as this is what all free to play games are based around. For example giving players an extra Vehicle slot when they unlock their first plane and giving second unit slot whenever they unlock level II units. In addition the size upgrade would only apply to the faction that you unlocked it with and gaining extra slots for other nations and campaigns would require playing them through.
This system would allow you to still keep the existing premium benefits, since it would allow free players to eventually catch up.
Option B - Outright remove it
There is no middle ground for this. Either everyone has a chance for a fair fight via different methods of progression or noone gets to have it.
Enlisted is already suffering from sky-high grind and nothing is being done about it. Our War Thunder squadron tried Enlisted for couple of weeks, and then they decided to get Post Scriptum or Hell Let Loose as neither their money nor the time would be worth it in the long run.
Just as a fun fact - The cheapest pack on gaijin store is 33 Euros (that with a discount) which is cheaper than any of the games mentioned before.
Sidenote - There is a 5$ Starter pack, yet it is so useless that it isn’t even worth mentioning.
I really want to enjoy Enlisted since I do see potential in it, but unless we see stuff being done about the game, it can just aswell not exist, since we do have alternatives that do treat it’s customers with respect.
That’s all from me,
Thank you.
