Adding vertical gun stabilizers to tanks that had them

Few months ago I did forums post suggesting the addition of gun stabilizers to tanks that had them.

I chose remake the post to get more attention now that the game has bigger playerbase.

Pre WW2 there were attempts to try “stabilized” tank guns on the move, for that was made the vertical gun stabilizer.

While the vertical/single plane stabilizer couldn’t have stabilized the gun at all speeds it could’ve done it good up to certain speed (depends on the tank and gun) and afterwards the “quality” of the stabilization decay.

M5A1 Stuart gun stabilizer:

Another kind of (WW2) gun “stabilizer” is shoulder stop, Shoulder-stop stabilizer is not truly a stabilizer in real life, but follows a principle due to the elevation mechanism on smaller caliber guns.
Due to the liberty the gunner had in the elevation on his shoulder rather than on gears, he could hold the gun steady as the tank was on the move and fire with relative ease.

Why are stabilizers important to the game and what will the add?
Stabilizers will allow certain vehicles to fire on the move better and react better to unexpected enemies, since one of the main focuses of the game is realism tanks that had them IRL should get them in game.

List of tanks in game that should have some kind of stabilizer:

  • Pz.Kpfw II Ausf. C - shoulder stop stabilizer up to 11kmph
  • Pz.38(t) F - shoulder stop stabilizer up to 11kmph
  • M24 - single plane stabilizer up to 25kmph
  • M5A1- single plane stabilizer up to 16kmph
  • M4A2 - single plane stabilizer up to 25kmph
  • M4A3E2 - single plane stabilizer up to 25kmph
  • M4A2 (76) W - single plane stabilizer up to 25kmph
  • A13 Mk II - shoulder stop stabilizer up to 11kmph
  • Daimler Mk II - shoulder stop stabilizer up to 11kmph
  • Mk 1 “Grant” - no stabilizer on the 37mm only on the 75mm, single plane up to 16kmph
  • A 13 mk2 1939 - shoulder stop stabilizer up to 11kmph
  • Valentine 1 - shoulder stop stabilizer up to 11kmph

I know big bad tigers did NOT have such marvels, but most usa tanks did. Its why tigers never shot on the move (the movie Furry is a load of crap with what it shows) but thankfully usa tanks could retain some mobility and STILL get semi accurate shots.

Ah, that explains why Allies had to rely on such tactics like binding prisoners of war on their tanks in the western front as they faced the 12. SS Panzerdivision Hitlerjugend ))

Clearly couldnt move fast enough for German 75s and 88s.

Again if it’s from furry… load of crap. I see that movie and can compare it with the population on the forum: ameriboos loving to bash werhaboos. It’s basically what the movie is 🤷

The ONLY good thing from the movie is that actual ww2 tanks were filmed, and I love those.

I support this 100%
Tanks should get the equipment and shells they had IRL

Its not from Fury, it really happend. You know, unlike some people, I do have books. And I speak german too. So no need to get my historical knowledge from comics.

Proof?

und woher hast du das gelesen, kevin

As far as I know efectiveness of mechanical stabilisers was minimal in terms of firing in move, even at low speeds. What they were meant to do, was to decrease the time between when tank stops and when tank shoots.
Correct me if I’m wrong.

That’s exactly why I got interested in the german ww2 military. In every movie I have seen, germans were wiped right, left, center so I thought “how such idiots managed to rule over the whole Continental Europe?”. And that’s how I got here :upside_down_face:

Anything to smooth out the jitters tanks get on terain is appreciated

im pretty sure we alrdy have gun stabilizers in the game, I mean… just look at the ppsh! : )

As I said it allowed them to fire on the move at acceptable-good accuracy but wasn’t perfect, especially for the smaller guns.
The quality of the stabilization fire accureo decay the higher the speed is.

idk what gelesen is but the rest i can read
