Adding The Centurion Mk1

Since this game is now quite all over the place in terms of ‘historical accuracy’. I want to see my Centurion added to the game.
Now it’s Centurion Mk1, so in terms of balance, it shouldnt be ‘OP’. I would gladly accept it as being a premium, even in the extreme of prices.

We would probably get the Panther II and Tiger II 105 before we get any of the E series tank.

Also the Centurion Mk I is not really that great, it is more comparable to Panther and pershing.

Yeah, but it has quite unique feature of 20mm coax.

God, can we please stop making every other thing that’s British Premium or event? It’s all so tiresom. No, make it BR V tech-tree. Will it blow the socks of it’s peers? No, but I thought powercreep was a bad thing. The Commonwealth deserves to be represented equaly with the US!

That not centurion MK1 BTW it’s a pilot centurion, if I’m not mistaken 20 pilot centurion’s were made named P-1 to P-20, this specific variant well is P-3(Based on writing on tank itself) with 20 mm coax, also it still uses 17pounder.

“In 1943, the British War Office mandated the Directorate of Tank Design to start working on a new heavy cruiser tank. The requirements stated that the new tank should be capable of withstanding a direct hit from the infamous German 88 mm gun, while providing greater protection against mines as well as staying under the 40-ton limit imposed by logistical constraints. The tank also had to offer a good cross-country capability when offroad, a high reverse speed was required but not a high forward top speed. The new project, called A41, had to surpass the Comet tank in all areas except the main armament for which the 17-pdr gun was still deemed effective enough to deal with enemy tanks.”

20 built late 1944-early 1945. Vehicle weight 42 tons.
P1 – P5
Armed with 17 pdr with 20 mm Polsten cannon and 7.92 BESA in ball mounting at turret rear.

P6 – P10
17 pdr with linkage to 20 mm Polsten and turret rear escape hatch

P11 – P15
17 pdr with linkage to 7.92 mm BESA and turret rear escape hatch

P16 – P20
Armed with 77mm HV and driver-operated hull machine gun

That was only for the Prototypes. The production version had the standard BESA machine gun instead (just like the war thunder model)

Enlisted devs are probably too lazy to give it the 20mm canon.

True but sad.

The Centurion Mark 1 is roughly equivalent to the Panther (apart from not getting any APHE) so one could argue that it would “make sense” to put it in BR 4 (personally I think both the Panther and thus the hypothetical Cent. Mark 1 would be better off in BR 5 but that’s neither here nor there). However, if you’re referring to the WW2 prototypes then if I recall correctly they had significantally worse frontal hull armour than the production Mark 1s.

The game’s rule is X was made, produced, served, tested, designed DURING or FOR the war

The Centurion passes

NO! They keep shafting Britain!

Even if Britain remains a sub faction it should be FLESHED OUT. Give Britain its own line in the RT

This could easily be Britain’s top tier tank

i was trying to ask myself is the Centurion 45 br 6 5 4. now i am asking myself why the super pershing is br5. one other than the front of the turret the centurion is no better than either pershing. the gun is clearly br4 at best so i guess yes br4. but the super p why is it br5 the armor is the same is the pershing. the gun is the same as the pershing so why is the super br5.

add Heavy Tank T26E5 - Tank Encyclopedia
Medium Tank M45 (T26E2) - Tank Encyclopedia

What ??

Super pershing has much more armor than standard pershing because of the additional armor. It has 2 additionnal plates of 38 mm each so around 180mm of slopped armor on the hull, this is more than KT. And it has another plate of 80 mm on the turret front (literally a Panther UFP) for around 195mm total armor. Yes it has weekspots but its armor is overhaul really good.

As for the gun :

Please show source, maybe game tank is very different from real world tank

the 38mm are boiler plates so it’s not as effective as actual tank armor steel (it’s i believe modeled as structual steel)

Just open the game or war thunder and check the armor protection (Screenshots from Enlisted) :

For the gun, check the Warthunder wiki (from which I took the screenshot) or check Euthymias spreadsheet (Enlisted Resource - Google Spreadsheets)

I did not know that thank you. Nevertheless the angle is still really good and the can bounce KT round.

here you go the actual multiplier that WT and i believe enlisted uses for it’s steel modifier, so that 38mm is more like 18mm of steel

Shouldn’t be this reflected in “effective thickness” then?

If not, then this “effective thickness” is just misleading number without any real value.

My point was not that you were wrong but that enlisted/war thunder is creating a tank that bar s only paying resemblance to the real tank
