G’day mate, not sure if you’re also from Australia but thank you very much for your post.
Great drawing, you did really well with the M3 Stuarts.
Im glad someone pointed out the ridiculousness of Australian 1st Agas having Ithaca shotguns which they didnt use.
Even worse is Yank GIs with Owen gun. ONLY Australia and New Zealand used the Owen.
I dont understand why an Australian assualt squad isnt given the Owen gun or better still swap the two around.
Indeed the Owen gun was designed for jungle warfare so makes sense for the close quarter ambushes that Australian commandos were involved in.
I have been requesting New Guinea for a while.
Buna-Guna is a good idea since it was a joint AUS-USA operation.
However I have been asking for the Kokoda Track and Rabaul.
The Kokoda Track is VERY famous for Australians, but is also very important in my opinion since Australians were the first Allied army to stop the Japanese on land. (likewise we were the first Allied army to beat the Germans at Tobruk).
Kokoda would finally give us proper jungle fighting, with less emphasis on tanks and vehicles and as an inland jungle battle would be very different to the existing Solomon Islands’ maps.
Rabaul was the capital of Australian New Guinea. It was a very important base for Japan when they captured it and would be a unique semi urban map (a coastal city basically).
(side note my great uncle fought there towards the end of the War, he lived to 100 years old)
The Pacific desperately needs more variety. It is a good point you make how we have this Australian commando squad yet not a single map that actually relates to where they fought.
Id also like to see Singapore as a map, maybe some Malayan maps, and then Dutch East Indies such as Balikpapan which can work as an early war and late war map. Balikpapan would have unique oilfields and is an opportunity for Dutch and Australian squads.
Oh and for christ’s sake DarkFlow get off ya bloomin backside and add the Australian and New Zealand hats that are in premium/event squads to the tech tree appearance options.
It’s already been done for the British Army peaked cap from the premium Sten Mk III squad.
