Add war campaign that not part of WW2 but still related to WW2

I would suggest adding theater of war that not part/partly of WW2 that very important in history of battle of WW2 :

  1. Winter War
    fasaffwe
Why? first-of-all this war is one of the reason Hitler choose to invade USSR, despite finland lost 11 percent of its territory the Soviet lost large amount of its troop and equipment to relatively small armies of finland thus convince hitler that soviet is weak and after 15 month of peace finland join germany to invade soviet to regain its lost territory in continuation war.
  2. Battles of Khalkhin Gol
    jhvwfbk
Why? this war is related to japan-soviet hostility that culminated during the last days of WW2 (soviet invasion of manchuria), While this engagement is little known in the West, it played an important part in subsequent Japanese conduct in World War II. The battle earned the Kwantung Army the displeasure of officials in Tokyo, not so much due to its defeat, but because it was initiated and escalated without direct authorization from the Japanese government.
  3. Second Sino-Japanese war
    fejabfhefjsfs gdsafadfdf ggfEFryhbzffd
Why? this war important to the involvement of japan in WW2 in pacific and east asia theater of war. the war itself started long before WW2 but become part of WW2 since japanese entry of WW2

Some uniqueness of this campaign if added in the Future :

  1. Winter War
  • SMK Tank
  • ski equipped finnish infantry
  • the “origin of molotov cocktail”
  • heavily forrested winter map
  • PERKELE INTENSIFIES
(overall just like RS2 Talvisota Mod)
  1. Battles of Khalkin Gol
  • Horse cavalry unit
  • large open area
  • perfect for combined arms battle
  1. Second Sino-Japanese War
  • Early campaign chinese unit had variety of equipment from europe,USA and indigenous copy of weapon (Chiang kai sek rifle, Zb-26 , Mauser pistol in .45 ACP etc)
  • depend of the part of war, we might see campaign in ruin of Nankin or mountainous china countryside
  • Chinese AT suicide bomber

+1, this is content that would be added waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay after the devs get a handle on the things they already announced but the addition of the Sino-Japanese front or the Winter war would be cool and it would work well in the “Campaign” format that the devs have going.

The addition of these would only really make sense if the devs went back to the “buy campaigns seperately” monetization system as i doubt there would be enough profit otherwise.

More realistically I can see them selling premium squads squad (similar to talismans or premium vehicles in war thunder) or cheaper premium that applies to only one campaign. But if they go back to the Buy seperately system they should remove microtransactions and premium, increase XP gains, and make Moscow a free “try before you buy” campaign.

Not saying they will actually do that, but if they go back down that road thats how they should do it.

I don’t play War Thunder so I can only assume that it has this campaign purchase system, what exactly is it?

In the past, the Devs have mentioned Stalingrad, and I believe Iwo Jima as future campaigns. For sure, they mentioned a campaign with Japanese soldiers. Japanese Armor has been well developed in War Thunder, so the vehicle modeling is most likely done. I suspect Stalingrad is being highly considered for obvious reasons. It is considered the greatest battle of the entire conflict and the Russians consider it to be one of the great battles of the Great Patriotic War.

War thunder monetizes itself by selling premium vehicles and premium accounts as well as skins and cosmetics in some cases

The buy campaigns separately system was the original monetization proposal for Enlisted, before the community voted on the game being free to play.

The also have a marketplace where certain items can be bought and sold, using gaijin coins. You can buy the coins from gaijin or sell items to gain them. They have drops of “chests” that can be only opened by “keys” that cost gaijin coins. Items in the “chests” are varied and not very predictable. They also have special events where the object is to win a Special Vehicle. To win it, means you have to have a large assortment of items that have to be won by combat, or purchased at the market place. You may also sell some of these items. Some the items cannot be sold.

Another monetization method is buying research points, or crew experience points to improve a vehicle/plane/ship and improve the crew or to repair a damaged vehicle. This appeals to those that don’t like to grind.

In game currency is silver lions, and real money is golden lions. Some players have spent serious money on War Thunder.

That monetization system sounds a lot better than the one we’re probably going to get. Jesus christ people need to think for the long term.

They are probably going to sell premium accounts in enlisted, Im pretty sure their was a leak about Enlisted premium, they might sell premium squads, as well as “talismans” which are a thing in war thunder that let you apply double XP to a vehicle, (or in Enlisted’s case a squad). I hope the devs axe the loot box system or at least don’t monetize it, paying for random drops is terrible.

The addition of these would only really make sense if the devs went back to the “buy campaigns seperately” monetization system as i doubt there would be enough profit otherwise

I don’t think it would be a waste, after war thunder added all the major nations it started making really niche additions, like Sweden, France, and a Chinese tree outside of the chinese version of the game.

After the devs add all the major parts of ww2 adding these lesser known parts wouldnt be a waste, if anything it would be more maps and more content

Well in war thunder’s case they have a 50$ premium for every tree, as well as a 20-40$ premium, on release. That’s AAA prices. Unless we’re getting premium soldiers or something, I don’t see how they could earn enough income from making this game free to play.

I think premium squads would be a good Idea, give them some unique uniform or tie them to some sort of historic event, and of course give them double xp and income like WT premiums.

Like for example for the normandy campaign they could sell the 101st “Screaming eagles” paratrooper division who fought at the battle of Bastogne.

They could also add squad talismans and make them work the same way as vehicle talismans in war thunder

The way I see it every campaign in Enlisted has at least 2 tech trees (albeit far more linear and smaller trees but WT has been expanding those trees for 8 years). Meaning we will have at least 8 to grind through on release. I think war thunder premiums are a little pricey but I’ve never thought war thunder premiums were unfair for the most part, so I wouldnt mind if each faction got a few premium squads with double XP.

Monitizing will be interesting. The Devs have mentioned a possible player barter system. One method of monetizing would be a “tax” or “fee” on any transaction…a VAT or Value Added Tax. Remember that these Devs have subcontracted to Gaijin and worked on War Thunder and perhaps some of the other Gaijin games. The know the Gaijin method of monetizing F2P games so expect similar methodology. Also note that Gaijin gives out their vehicle and map modeling software and some players have cost sharing income from Gaijin if Gaijin likes and accepts their models. Since Enlisted runs on the Dagor Engine, I wonder if the modeling system can be used for Enlisted.

Since War Thunder is one of the most successful game of its type and profitable for Gaijin, I would suspect that the monetization model will be similar. We just have to wait and see.

They have in house modelling software? I always just thought they’d use something industry standard like Maya or 3DS max and import those into Dagor.

I’m pretty sure he is referring to the dagor engine, which doesnt have modelling modules, afaik. They do outsource most of their 3D models, so I asume those outsourced models are used by artists working with the industry standard softwares.

Well, as a War Thunder player I can say that there is HUGE, however.
What is terribly wrong with WT monetization system:

  1. Nowadays a lot of premium vehicles are the pure definition of p2w ( modern pg-02 vs ww2 boats, object 120 vs. ww2 tanks, you get the idea)
  2. Price of each vehicle equals of AAA game (yes, 60 euro per one vehicle is not popular, just ask any war thunder player out there, most will have similar thoughts).
  3. Grind: In past it wasn´t all that bad, however, grind was made too harsh in order to force players into buying premiums (or else spend month unlocking single top tier vehicle) grind problem became one of the worst downsides that wt have as a game and gets often referred to by its critics.
  4. Marketplace: originaly a good idea, but heavily abused in crafting events (each time crafting event releases, one step further is usually being made) that are being made more and more dependent on buying parts from other players (not to mention 100+ euro vehicles)
  5. Lootboxes: Well, I have to say, that lootbox system in war thunder (each “trophy” read as lootbox) contains mostly player made skins that do not affect gameplay enough to make this gambling aspect p2w, so that is actually not so bad (for now, as every point mentioned above was “good enough” until it eventually changed its path to consumer hostile practices).

Conclusion: WT monetization WAS good enough in the past, however it is very easy to be abused and every formerly good aspect slowly turned to almost scummy levels. Let me just say, that praising WT monetization is not entirely wrong, but we should be very careful about what we wish for… or we get it.

War thunder uses CDK aka content development kit for modeling. It is available for free download. There are training videos available from Gaijin. I’ve played with it a bit but it takes time to use and master and time Is something I don’t have. Gaijin says it has an office in Latvia (These Devs) so I suspect they are using CDK.

I asume that the CDK is to turn a visual model into a model with damage models, armor models, etc and that normal visual models can be imported into it. Otherwise, outsourcing the artist work would be much less attractive.

Yeah, you can see in the tutorial vid for the CDK that when the dev wants to edit the actual geometry of the model he does so using 3DS max then exports the models into Dagor.
