Add the Pacific Theatre?

I think its on the cards, it makes sense to take the campaigns further east.

I’m curious how they’re going to balance it particularly around the vehicles, since initially they would have some parity, but as the war progressed the Japanese tanks were grossly outclassed by the Stuart and Later the Sherman. When it comes to aircraft the disparity is nowhere near as large if any infact, since the Japanese had some very good aircraft up to the end.
So perhaps the ground asymmetry will be addressed via a stronger air component?

Looking forward to see what comes up next

it’s planned it will be Guadalcanal info is on map editor

I can’t help but wonder if they’re not messing with us knowing full well that that would be found, I get that it makes some sense from a marketing standpoint, A very well-known and famous battle, but someplace like Burma would simply play a lot better and have a lot more options because of the factions that were involved, but then again maybe they’re thinking of introducing some sort of naval component, and iron and bottom sound is just right off shore …

They might then include Tulagi, The scene of some fighting as well, I wonder if they would include ships?

To many allaied forces, guadalcanal end like normandy, with the USA having commowealth weapon for “insert commowealth nation”

I think any significant amount of foliage (like triple-canopy rainforest) is going to GRIND these servers to a screeching halt.

It’s bad enough in a match when you’ve got 2 or 3 people VPN’ed in from their igloo on the ass end of the Antarctic continent, but at least it’s still kind of playable (150 ping, BTW).

But unless they’ve got some slick trick to make vegetation and elephant grass and wet tropical leaves work seamlessly, I’m expecting them to stick to blasted out battlefields like Iwo Jima and Okinawa, or the smaller atolls like Tarawa, etc.

There was certainly a lot of jungle on Guadalcanal, but the area around Henderson field was cleared of jungle, and there were large areas of what was called Konie (sp?) grass, so I would imagine that they’re going to make a map that is playable and user-friendly.

Other areas like Burma for example would Be more forgiving in the sense that they were not entirely jungle either, with lots of open areas and more villages and hamlets, Guadalcanal was largely devoid of any sort of villages.

But I would imagine that they would use the same creative license that they have with mapmaking, apart from Tunisia one constant factor in their map design us they’re extremely cluttered

Here is the thing about Guadalcanal, the Australians there were in the Navy and therefore never actually fought in the ground war. However, the US really needs some lower level SMGs because in 1942/43, the Grease gun did not exist and the Americans used the Thompson in that role. Therefore, their Owen and the Sten will probably find their way into American hands for balance reasons, and the fact that the Aussies were technically present, but never participated in the ground combat.

It doesnt matter who was involved because DF is unable to make a proper mutliple nations campaign.

The RNZAF was there operating out of Henderson later in the campaign

I thought they started operating out of Henderson after Guadalcanal was effectively over, but I could be wrong about that.

The fighting on yes I believe, but they were operating in the area with different planes, Hudsons for example, and P 40’s were used in theater by them as early as 42, so as lossy goosey as they are about inclusion they could add a RNZAF plane or two

The Coast watchers were also comenwealth and there helpers as well they could possibly add small team of radio men with Enfields, but this would realy be stretching things as coastwatchers were not realy combatants

There was a small contegent of natives and a coast watcher that helped the US when they landed after the Japanese ran off into the Jungle, the Japanese IJN construction crews were largely unarmed

Ah I see. So they probably won’t make it in the form of a squad, but their weapons might, who knows.

There have been a lot of good suggestions for Asian campaing.

Hopefully it is coming. I would be glad to hear the if it is coming and when?

Some people have made amazing suggestions such as this for example. (There are other great ones too)

I would like to see Chinese forces as well, I just think Burma might work better overall for there inclusion, some of the Best Chinese forces were sent there to Help the British defend it against the Japanese invasion

China would be great, but the modern Chinese government might not be so happy if the devs include them, as the vast majority of the organized Chinese military units where Nationalist forces, including the ones that went to Burma. Considering how big the game is in both Taiwan and the mainland, it is probably a safe bet to assume that the devs arn’t going to risk either market and unfortunately, that probably means no China campaign.

I fell like the only chinise we get are some overpriced premium squad for a future korea campaign

Not even, if we get Korea, I’m willing to bet it will be Incheon or Pusan, neither of which involved the Chinese in any way. There arn’t any real major battles in the Korean war after the Chinese get involved.

You mean that quote with the assumption that the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir IS the Chinese getting involved, right?

Because that reads very poorly if that’s not what you meant.

Pretty much, Chosin is practically the only large battle the Chinese took part in, and seeing as it was pretty much a surprise attack, I would count that as the moment the Chinese got involved. However, it probably wouldn’t work as a campaign the same way Kursk and El Alemein wouldn’t work as a campaign. I stand by the statement that the Incheon landings and the Pusan Perimeter are the two best choices for a Korean war campaign. Probably could have clarified a bit better though.

I saw there are small data of it but to be honesty I doubt Guadalcanal campaign is possible… There’re too many problems.

Japanese didn’t had decent armored vehicles not only in frontline but also mainland’s factory. For example, more modern Japanese AFVs like Type 1 Chi-He (47mm AT gun& 50mm armor), Type 1 Ho-Ni I (SPG with long 75mm cannon), Type 1 Ho-Ni II (SPG with 105mm cannon), and Type 2 Ho-I (75mm mountain gun & 50mm armor) were labeled Type 1 (M1941) or Type 2 (M1942) but production was started since 1943-44 so during the battle they were not existed in the world.

Infantry weapons also have problems. In case of SMG, there were only a few early production model of Type 100 SMG in there. Different to other islands captured by early of war, Japanese didn’t captured various Allie’s infantry weapons so it is difficult to implement them. Even if included naval SMG which would not be in Guadalcanal, they’re only two (SIG-Bergman M1920, Steyr-Solothurn S1-100) so it will not enough for game… (it is common problem among early war campaign)
Other SMGs like Type 100 special, Type 100 late, experimental model 2 (it was not adopted but it was mass-produced at the late of war) appears since 1944-45 so we have to implement multiple prototypes.

More serious problem is semi-automatic rifle. Japanese only-one mass-produced semi-auto rifle, Type 4 automatic rifle (IJN) was mass-produced in 1945, so possible addition is only prototypes or captured things… Of course, both prototypes and captured rifles from Philippines etc was not exists in Guadalcanal.

Battlefield also have problem. There are only deep jungle and wide beach which become killing field by American machine guns and cannons. I think it’s boring because it lacks diversity of types of map.
