Doing it MULTIPLE Times will destroy the barrel, YES. However, we aren’t using the exact same equipment for more than that one squad, in one battle. Long-term effects is NOT something that needs to be considered.

  1. Its probably not as simple of a fix as you think it is.
  2. They probably have separate teams working on different problems. The team working on fixes probably have other things they are prioritizing.

I like it, would be a cool little gimmick, and not really balance changing since it’s a one time use per spawn. Not sure how “historical” it is, but I know some people have done it at some point.

Edit: I’d worry about barrel temper IRL, if it’s very hot when you quench it the metal could harden and become brittle.

As far as “historical”, my great-uncle served in WW2. He told stories of unorthodox ways they had to cool down barrels in a pinch. Using a flask is the “watered down” version if you know what I mean.

Things are getting flagged as people keep trying to change the topic to “bugs” that are in the game. The rules even state “keep it on the subject”.

There is a report button for that specific reason.

Yeah. Somehow this only happens if people answer to you. Strangely whenever someone does this somewhere else where you didnt comment, this doesnt happen. And its also just coincidence that my changed posts get flagged again. Like (those) five different people spend their whole day looking at days old posts again.
(Oh and its also just coincidence that your posts where you derail as well dont get flagged or that you instantly knew the reason behind the flag)

In real life, using water on a red hot MG barrel would cause the barrel to warp, lose it’s heat treatment, and develop cracks due to thermal shock. It’s literally the last thing you would want to do to a barrel.

Now you might think “what about the Maxim MG? It has a watercooled barred and it’s ok”
The Maxim has a rather thin barrel compared to air cooled MGs and the barrel sits in water from the start, meaning that during shooting the barrel won’t get any hotter than the boiling temperature of water (100 celsius). It’s funny tho how you can overheat a Maxim in Enlisted since that’s the whole point of a waterjacket, to ensure that the gun won’t overheat…
