Add StuG 3 B to the tech tree

I just want to rock a short barrel StuG

Edit
Maybe it would be better to add C variant instead as it doesn’t have a shot trap above the driver view port.

What if we moved StuG F to BR2?

Will this cause F to have short barrel?

No but unlike the premium STUG - this one could have no HEATS and instead be a BR1 vehicle.

Also Premium STUG A should get its AP ammo removed and should only use HEAT, because of its small ammo capacity.

Also STUG F is completely irrelevant in BR3 - it should 100% be a BR2 vehicle.

Is that this version?

I recently read an article that covered the 80th Anniversary of the Prague Uprising (a few days before the end of the war). And I was quite surprised to see that short barrel stuG was present.

off topic

From that same article

This could be an interesting APC with armament. And obviously the vehicle here was used as an APC

Hard to tell. From my very quick read it may be C version?
But that’s mostly guessing on my part, I’m no expert.

Edit
Actually maybe I should suggest C version instead? Wiki says it’s shot trap was removed and I think it’s suitability may be low even without such “features”.

Its no surprise to see short barrel StuGs in late war urban combat since the short barrel is actually an advantage in such environments.

Well I thought that short barrel stugs stopped being made about halfway through the war. (But I’m no expert, more just my presumption).

So I was surprised that any would survive to this point of the war even. I wasn’t surprised about it being used in urban fightings.

And in general, in those photos from Prague there are much more often seen hetzers than stugs. For obvious reason.

my DAK could use a short barrel Stug

( be it B or C variant. )

They indeed stopped producing them, but whatever units already had on hand was not sent back for refitting.
Vehicle refitting was usually done when the unit was on leave (rotated back home to rest) or damaged vehicles were sent back for repairs which usually included upgrades.

However StuGs were always deployed in the rear and had low profile + near perfect coordination with infantry thus their loses were low and due to their role of support they didn’t necessarily need to be refitted.

Just checked, this is a C version.
The B had the gunners sight above the driver’s port (shot trap, was fixed in C)

I recall there were no/few stugs in Africa because of unresolved engine overheating issues. Do I miss something?

its short gun is absolutely pointless, axis needs stug f tank at br2 to fight kv1 tank

Well - yes, but at BR1 this would be interesting.
