well, the medics are an important part of the infantry, and is strange don’t have a soldier specialist in this task. I like to play as support in many games, and I think it was nice having an option in this game.
theoretical properties of this class:
-the second weapon slot is use for a syringe (and can use the “heal another soldier” animation).
that’s work as a fast and more effective way to use a medkit.
-The backpack let them carry additional medkit than other classes.
-If you have one on your squad and use the “heal me”, he is the default soldier that responds to the task.
-Squad Class only ability: The medics of the squad can be ordered to heal nearby allies, receiving an amount of exp similar to the engineer bonus.
-This maybe is gonna be too much but: (researchable perk class) if a soldier falls but is not for a headshot and is not mutilated, the medic can invest an amount of time (10 sec for example, and only one time per soldier) to reanimate them (this more oriented in saving the life of an important squad member, for example, the engineer or the antitank, than keeping the squad as immortals).
You can already have a medic, get large back pack and control player run about healing downed soldiers, also if downed yourself, double tap the action (square on ps5) to get one of your own team to heal you. Even if not downed you can get healed by your squad… if they carry med kits.
Don’t get me wrong about what I am going to say, because I love this idea.
I would first like DF to work on some existing problems before adding in new things to balance and create new problems in the game.
The High end META needs to be revised (weapon / squad member) to something more rational and balanced. They also need to take a long hard look at old old premium squads and consider how they are ‘now’ in the world vs how they used to be.
Beyond that, I do love the idea. There were medics, and bringing someone back from ‘the dead’ even if only once per medic, would add some intriguing gameplay into Enlisted.
Medics would be worthless in Enlisted:
Game pace is too fast AND players aren’t afraid of dying because they control more than a single soldier, PLUS maps are small so reaching the front is very quick.
It would be a waste of time for anyone to play that class sadly.
if the game would ever allow us to add more specialists to other squads they could be very useful
I know that, the idea is simply act as little help or support your own squad. the effectiveness of this gonna variety from player to player. Is more to get a complete game experience with more options.
I think it could work if it made the bots automatically help out their squad mates, and if for the player it actually gave you some ui help to let you find people who would benifit from medkitting. There are real possibilities for it to work in game, its just that is is by the time you go “Oh, I should heal x person” its already too late for it to mater.
I’d like to see medics but they would be next to worthless. @Conscript_Joe wrote most important reasons.
But whle we are talking about medics, an idea came to my mind. It's over the top but I like to theoretische.
How about a medic squad that can evacuate woulded soldiers from the battlefield?
Like, you would have a squad of 4 medics and you could carry / escort wounded soldiers.
Like that or with usage of stretcher.
Firstly, soldiers could be in several phisicall states:
- fine - full health
- wounded - health lowered, works like now
- downed - non-letal damage, works like current down state
- out of fight - soldier sustained too much non-lethal damage and is out of fight. (Soldier lies on ground and screams or sth. Maybe his leg is ripped off.)
- killed - soldier sustained lethal damage (like headshot or direct HEAT round)
Medics could evac oof soldiers and take them to the spawn (idealy to a proper field hospital operated by AIs). In exchange their team would earn some bonuses like more tickets or faster respawn time.
It would work even better with expanded human damage model (like damage to legs, arms etc.)
Does it fit the game? Not at all! But I wanted to write it anyway
I know that, in my squads of flamethrowers (same with gunner squad), the two normal soldiers have the perks and the backpacks to heal the flametrooper when get damage to not wasted their own single med. But I don´t like to need to improvise a medic, for that reason y create this suggestion, considering that game have 13 specialist, the medic can be good for the 14th post.
Don’t think in this as a necessary and immediately addon, is more a like to get new content with mechanics to enrich the game experience.
Если бы это была игра, где игрок контролирует 1 бойца - да, может что-то такое и было бы интересно.
Но тут за толпой своих солдат не уследишь.
we got fucking medpacks for fucks sake
I know we have medpack abilities and we can call on our bot team mates to heal us too if we want, but the more I think about this, the more I think I might be able to make something like it work in game.
Perhaps make it so you have one in your specialized slot in game, and he can heal anyone downed, with a very quick timer (Kinda like the perk, but for anyone) and make it autonomous. So if someones Bot gets downed, or a player gets downed, he just goes and does his AI thing and brings them back up.
I dunno, I’m spitballing here, but I’ve white boarded weirder things in my time with other companies so.
If you play HOI4 and use china or soviet union medic company is usless because you have always 10 milion of man to trow to the problem
its a good idea but not with the current state of the game, enlisted rn is pure run n gun and nothing else.
No need for a new soldier class, just give the engineer squad a medpack box construction that gives from 1-3 (depending on inventory space) medpacks when interacted with on the battlefield, there case solved no need for a useless class
But this sweet experience loss reduction and lvl 5 vet troops with no effort.
Not sure how the revive system would work on this fast paced game.
But perhaps buildable medic station similar to ammo with some limitations ofc.
I agree with TUSU, just let engineer build a medical station (with some limitations of course). It’s too hard to control the individual soldiers in my opinion.
