Add cover when crewing a fixed weapon

need the ability to take cover manning a fixed weapon like an MG. otherwise you just target pactice. Way too easy to pick off for a lone rifleman.

A necessary balance measure for how powerful they are.

They are extremely strong now… I can´t imagine them being completely covered against snipers as well…

So on providing any more cover for MGs I have to say No! No! No!

It’s easy to do but it’s never done often enough. It’s fine as-is, machine guns require competent teams to counter.

A fixed weapon as a MG is strong. you do not charge it with infantry. its a job for mortars or rifle nades or some other HE weapon. But you also have the other fixed teams guncrew, morter crew need some type “hit the dirt” also goes for the AI but thats a nother thing.

every time i see a implacement with MG the person get headsmacked in second. do not mix the portable one the lmg squard with the static/enginer build mg

is fixed MG too strong hell no try ask the infrantry men of the 1st ww or the second for that matter. its a beast of a weapon vs infrantry

I have to say I disagree if you make it so you need a weapon like this to take out MGs then they will just run rampant. Rifle grenade is very far down the campaign tree and MG emplacement building unlocks at lvl 4. Mortars require allies to mark the enemy position which is rare.

I build them often and get several kills on average before my first operator is killed.

Can you imagine how impossible Normandy would be with all those MGs everywhere if you couldnt shoot them off? It would be impossible to advance on that map.

Two ways to kill / deastroy MG nest on lvl1 campain (there are probably more):

  • flank it, simplest yet the most effective way of dealing with MGs. Sometimes it’s next to imposible sadly.
  • if 1st point doesn’t work then take a sniper and order your squad to stay in one place. Then try to snipe MG nest while being unspoted.
If this doesn’t work then repeat but this time order your squad to rush MG nest. While it’s moving down your AIs you snipe the gunner.

Sedond way wasn’t tested unfortunatelly. It’s based on my gaming experience (as I often use various MGs) and some military knowledge (I wouldn’t put trust in it).

So plz, be my beta tester of the 2nd tactic :stuck_out_tongue:

I just do the quickest half-assed flank possible just to not be right in front of it, then shoot the gunner out.

I never have more than 3 assaulters to a squad so I always have the range for it.

i do your second method all the time, i just simply love using weapons with scopes. they are very effective. but if you miss your shots like a donkey, he will most likely start to rain down some bullets at your squad killing someone in the process.

everytime i see snipers that tries to kill mg people, but they get shoot by the guys they were supposed to kill. it’s funny though

I know what you mean. Surprisingly large amount of snipers either miss or don’t hide themselves well enough.

Personally I would give MG some cover if most of the players weren’t lemmings that try frontal rush against it.
For now it should stay as OP shooting practise.

You mean most of the bots

All of bots and most of the players. I also thought they were bots, unfortunatelly no.

I usually just shoot the MG which destroys it after I kill the gunner off of it from range.

First spawn on D-Day is any squad with a sniper to shoot out as many MGs as I can while sniping bunker dwellers. Then Engineer to spawn a beacon on one of the flanks.
