About those new tank sights

They are all very accurate and stuff… but they are accurate for “the real world” ™ where battles take a long time with things like reconnaisance and stealth and forwad planning … IMO they are not very suitable for a manic fps like Enlisted.

So I suggest halving the magnification they have that is over x 1.0 - so a x 3.0 sight would have 1.0 + 2.0/2) = +2.0 - still a significant magnification, but perhaps a little less drastic for a game wher elong range is 300m!!

This guy had a great idea which would really help with the magnification:

Same thing could be added for Commanders view-port.

I think, seeing thwo views at the same time would be really confusing. Just revert the change on the scope, it was perfect before. And if they want to make the scopes ‘‘historical’’ and ‘‘accurate’’ they could redesign the scope markings to fit the actual historical sight markings, rather than the generic crosshair and that way too zoomed in view. Also, on a real tank, there is a far zoomed out option, that is quite similar to the view we had before, that zoomed in view now, is what you would already use for distant targets, and seeing as this game doent feature engagement distances of more that 300m on average, it is not necessary, that tanks can look at the details of the enemies uniforms in spawn.

How were they perfect? These tanks had these magnifications, for some of them it is a benefit, for some of them it is a pain in the … ask the designers why they put it like that, same as you could ask for armor and gun.

Tanks are more than just armor and caliber/length of a gun. Number of crew, visibility from inside (not just the gunner view, but all other view slots), radio etc, etc.

Its like you are saying Panzer 4 had 75 mm gun but they didn’t have that modeled in the game so they slapped on 50mm and it was perfect.

You would just need to get used to it. I don’t see how would multiple view ports in a 2d plane confuse me after god knows how many hours in a 3d aircraft flying.

But, you should have an option to remove it if you really don’t have a feeling of your surroundings and it confuses you.

I will repeat what I said there, if the AI bot that is driving the tank starts shouting “Achtung Soldanen” or whatever, then I am fine with not having “collective-mind”. But if you are shooting at something that is left from your tank while whole bunch of infantry starts charging from front and both driver and radio operator sit there and chill, then why not implement something like this. Its not all around vision or some other crap. Lots of people will still have tunnel vision, those who stay alert will maybe save themselves.

Another possible idea could be returning old view but without scope boarders around your screen. Basically you then get the 3rd person and you see front of tank as before this patch just w/o scope. But with right mouse button you can zoom in when needed and there you have new historical sights as it is now.
Right now tanks are made pretty much unplayable against infantry at closer distances. Right now I get impression that game try to dictate us how to play tanks, by making tankers half blind and nerfing it against infantry. And i’m shocked that a lot of people support this and think that sitting in the far of the map and sniping with cannon is the only correct playstyle for tanks.

Yeah, I played very aggressive before, driving into points, supporting the team with mg and HE, flanking enemy positions, all with infantry support. This is why I say the old view was perfect, it was easy to get used to, you had a feel of your surroundings, and you could mov e with your team and be useful. Now you either have headache and dont really know where you are or you sit back at the edge of the map, crack open a cold one, set up your tent and get the campfire going, because, you aint moving anywhere soon.

Brilliant idea for your tank crew to warn you about infantry! For example they could shout i’nfantry approaching left/right’ or ‘infantry front’. Infatry squad bots already start screaming when they see enemies in a distance to why couldn’t tanker bots also do this.

Because tankers can’t see much and are focused on their job inside the tank?

And what do you think about this?

Borrowed from previous thread, look at point 1:

So when you drive your car you look at the wheel, gear shift and foot pedals?

My favorite distance was about 40-50 metters, close but far enough to prepare if some of infantry starts running to you…but now…even at 40-50 metters i still feel half blind, unprotected and disoriented with those new sights, FOV is just too small. I don’t know if i’ll get used to them. Right now player has to aim those shaky sights somehow and if player starts turning turret bit by bit and search for flanking infantry, it’s not possible to aim at all (the new sensitivity is insane). That’s why it is mega nerf. And sitting in far of the map and using those sights to full advantage is just too boring for me and also as infantry player i’ve always hated those kind of tankers. If devs aimed to nerf tanks against infantry then it will be just worse, no infantry squad will bother with destroying tank sitting at the far end of map.

I am really against it actually. I would rather have a hive mind. If you are too occupied with shooting and have tunnel vision, then it is your own fault that you didn’t see infantry incoming from the mini drivers view.

It wouldn’t hurt at all that commander could have aim available at that possition.

It would solve a lot of things. You would use the gunner for precise work, and commander for spotting and close quarters.

I like that it’s a realistic zoom now - I can shoot enemies from hundrets of meters away if I want to.

Someone has to spot the enemy tank and flank it to neutralize it. As simple as that.

I like to mow down lemmings who just run in front of my gun… it’s funny.
