About the future role of trucks / armored personnel carriers on the battlefield

With the new update we have access to trucks and armored personnel carriers. This is very useful for more successful captures or defense of positions. Taking into account the fact that engineers, as an auxiliary class, no longer have time to cope with their responsibilities. How often can you find a good location to spawn? And how often can it be seen on the map? There were battles where the engineers did not set up rally points at all. With the advent of trucks, good collection points also appeared.
But the problem of the engineers’ work remained. Now we are talking about ammunition. Sometimes “Eng” builds a rally point and immediately goes to meet the enemy. At the same time, neither he nor anyone else will build a box of cartridges… And it seems to me that if there was a box of cartridges on the truck and armored personnel carrier, this would correct the situation. Imagine! An armored personnel carrier is on its way to capture a point. Destroys enemy infantry. Parking.New soldiers appear inside and they also go into battle. A few minutes later, someone returns to the vehicle to take ammunition or grenades from the boxes (YES! why not add grenades to replenish them?). And back to battle. The enemy will be suppressed by the pressure of the attackers. And the owner of the truck/armored personnel carrier will receive a lot of points and an incentive to park only in the best places.
What do you think?

I think you hit the problem on the head in the first part of your question.

The lack of testing and gimmicky introduction of equipment without consideration for current in game roles and how they are balanced into the overall game is causing massive issues.

As it stands, once you fully upgrade your assault, FT and potenitally Mortar/RO squad you have access to all the necessary roles you need to play the game. The other squads are there just to unlock the slots on your selected rank of soldier that you’re inserting into your now optimised line up.

This makes large chunks of content redundant.

So yeah you could drop an ammo crate onto the HTs as well. It will feed the run and gun game, which just has to have enough players with HTs to keep the momentum rolling. You park them in a decent spot and the enemy needs det packs or explosives to deal with them, since spawining in the AT squad is inefficient. You primarily want assault or FT squads to do your run and gunning, with the end game mortar/RO squad to soften up the defence before the rush.

The HTs are fun, in the same way as the Airborne drops. Both are ways of setting up fast spawn points in dangerous areas of the map, but they should come with some limitations and handicaps.

So ultimately, I would leave the HT as is, and not cram any other “role” based abilities into it, because ultimately it just waters down the utility of stuff that is already in game and makes it redundant.

Let’s all be an APC driver and park the thing right on top of all the other rally’s

I’m probably in the minority here but I personally think apcs are a gimmick and will not reach the true meta

I hope you’re wrong. I like the idea of transport!

I don’t think they’re a gimmick, but they are a strong contender for enabling a faster paced game that contributes more to the run and gun game. Not enough players have experimented with them yet.

You can bail out the whole squad less the driver who can remain behind the wheel, and then move the HT up at your leisure even if the original squad dies. Sure you might have to burn some time for your team to open up the AAs to your next objective, but it will allow you to move the mobile spawn point at least once before you bail out your driver to die heroically at the next spawn, then respawn a new team to contiue the assault.

I only play with a machine gun. The rest are like a cover group.

I think they would be more utilized in combat, at least the armed ones, if you could spawn even when close to the objective. So you’re incentivized to support the team. All I see is people dumping them

Also, I kind of think maybe we didn’t need to have unarmed APCs in the research tree. They might as well just have gave the random trucks that spawn on the map that ability. I almost think they should remove the unarmed ones and give us some other armed variant instead

They definitely need some refinement

Nope they will just end up being pushed to the side like mortar squads and the rider class

Mind you I’ve only tried the Japanese one so far… me no likey

What if it’s a jeep that SAS used?

The Japanese don’t have a truck, they have a bucket. Mass grave of the squad and the brave men who jumped in to you…

Being bigger and easier xp pinatas for at gunners
Unless they really scale up maps

I don’t see them ever letting you replenish nades as that wold just turn into impact spam for inf and explo spam for tanks. Why use an MG nest or an AT gunner when you can just spam nades. But i do th8nk replenishing engi materials would be a thing. I hate having to carry around 4 engineers in one squad.

Without ammo there is no battle…

Again s1 wants something in game, when its already here, we have engineer’s.

But most of you wont run them, or use, but u will sit in a APC to get free points,
now some say, no engie places ammo BS, most who would possibly, think about running out, would carry a ammo back pack, but you wont use that, as you want it for grens spam.
i place 2-3 crates, and when i see they are only used 1-3 x , a match.
i do ask my self why do lay them, for 3x uses, of ammo, from 2-3 crates what a waste could of laid out other things.

PS edit, somewhere in my forum history, is of a suggestion i made, within some thread,
was to have just a truck(unarmed), to be just a resupply truck.

I don’t sit in trucks! I park it and go into battle. Boxes alone are not enough. A guy with a mortar will come and take it all at once. And those boxes that I put are no longer there

true, I unlocked APC, used it a few times and that’s it. It’s SO tight there’s no room at all for it to work imo.

jeeps and motorbikes should perhaps have this ability, they are better off road, they would be better suited for something like this.

Mine does, it has a engineer, as a sidekick

Excuse me what? Motorbikes have the shitties offroad performance i’ve ever seen. I’d rather have a horse get the respawn mechanic first than giving it to bikes.
