However, if they allow both, then both will be spammed at once.
I personally think the current choice is necessary.
Meanwhile, I think other options for smoke cover need to be utilized by players as well.
Personally I like the smoke shells from tanks, and mortar smoke isn’t terrible either.
Yes, it’s true that the player has to choose what he wants to use.
But the fact that one player calls in a bomber strike or artillery fire should not limit another player’s ability to use a smoke screen.
What they should do is give it a comically short reload, like 30, 45 seconds.
Just placing an artillery smoke screen shouldn’t be blocked when bombers are called in.

Smoke barrages should have their own timer SEPARATE from the regular HE artillery strikes. Would make radiomen useful, and ppl would start using smoke.

But it would make mortar smoke shells more inferior.
And mortar squad is even now way worse than artillery one.
I think they should just merge those two squads together. And named it camping squad.
Idk… I just think they nerfed mortars a bit too much. Mortar shells splash damage now seems on par with rifles grenade’s one… Which is to say not a lot.
At least we’d see more smoke barrages. When I see one, I write it in my calendar so rare an event it is.
This because f2p player last thing they do is waste one of the 3 slot for 2 mortar…

I never see anyone use the smoke barrage. The rares times I do, I note it in the calendar, to record it for history.

In enlisted, this whole meta-weapon is a player invention. Because if you’re good enough, basic armament, often mixed, is enough.
Mortars should be stronger on the explosive damage side.
The smoke is a more flexible application.
I hate how someone uselessly spamming bombers blocks me from laying a very critical smoke screen that i spawned the squad to do.
So yes, smoke should be handled 100% separate from arty with its own timer. You can even skip this from the arty speed firing bonus to reduce the smoke spam volume, but you should be able to lay a smoke screen when it’s needed.
Why play with “enough” if you can play with the best and win easier, grind faster?
and that is wrong thinking. Quick quick, the game lasts 7 minutes and you get 7k exp for winning. And no fun.
And I like to build something here, set up with a mortar here and torment the opponents.

Mortar smoke is pretty rubbish, would like buff.
I still like mortars but the HE is pretty piss poor these days.
Yes to smoke on different timer (radio squad)…i havent run a radio squad for 6 months, but when i do i average 2 smoke barrages a game.
Almost all smoke is rubish.
Except for smoke shells for tanks that have range like if they were a 50kg plane bomb.
