Ability to strategically choose a Squad Preset at the start of a game

The List of Squad Presets are selectable at the start of a game. So you can make a Squad Preset for a certain scenario, and another for a different scenario. So you can strategically pick which one you’d like to go with for the certain map at hand. The map has a cap on what BR it is, so only the ones equal to or lower the BR can be selected for entering the battle, except for BR IV and V where anything goes.

Sooo you don’t know how to be versatile with the current system?

No, I wouldn’t say that, I’m usually number 1 spot in the team at least some 6 out of 10 games or so.

I see what you mean, tho. This would indeed be a major change to how a player choose their squads in a planned manner, as it would greatly expand the possible niches over the current generalized system in place. So a degree of uncertainty would be lost. However, a battlefield is no random or isolated thing, but is part of a greater war. The map in question is there due to previous events leading up to the battlefield. In that time, the commanders have planned a fitting response. So, the ability to make decisions would play well into making the battles not so isolated from the greater overarching story, which is that it’s indeed part of a greater war rather than some isolated thing. It would improve strategic planning coming into each individual battle as it would add a greater range of choices for the player beforehand, to really tailor their different presets for the given battlefield scenario.

Hmm. There’s worth in how you describe it, but unfortunately as far as Enlisted is concerned in a vacuum, there isn’t an overarching story. Just battlefields on different fronts

However, I like the give and take of the current system. Do I sacrifice sheer versatility for a bit of specialization? Do I give up potentially being more effective in a certain area for better “do it all?”

Personally, I’ve built my main set up as aggressive anti tank. I got Assaulter, MG, and AT Squads as well as a plane for gray zone tanks
I do enjoy mixing it up a bit though. Using squads I don’t normally use, experimenting, and leveling up all the squads for completionism. It’s a load of fun. I may not always take the top spot when using unorthodox squads, but I still have fun playing the game and experimenting. It’d be much less interesting to pick different squads if I always have them set away for the perfect opportunity, and able to pull on them when that opportunity arrives. I’d rather be stuck with the choices I’ve made and perform less than optimally as that pushes what small amount of strategy this game has

Exactly that yes, a lot of uncertainty and difficult prioritization and then take these occasionally suboptimal squads for the random scenario and see what you can improvise is part of the fun for sure.

In a way, this wouldn’t be completely lost, as there would still be a journey to get to build these presets, and as it’s you building them, you can indeed build them the way you’d like to have them.

Yeah, sometimes a very important kill on a tank can make a game, and if you don’t make much else than that, the great feat is not going to be proportionally presented in the stats. You don’t always have to occupy the top spot to have made a great difference for the team effort.
