High BR aircraft are faster and more powerful. To counter these, add AA tanks with strong firepower armor. It is effective against aircraft, but it is still open-topped and the crews are exposed and can be handled by infantry small arms. In selecting vehicles, we researched and found that they already exist in WarThunder. I am sure they will be easy to add.
Below is a brief description and images of the proposed vehicles.
FOR RESEARCH TREE
U.S.A.
M19 anti-aircraft self-propelled artillery
After the outbreak of World War II, the U.S. Army, based on the lessons learned in Europe, needed an anti-aircraft self-propelled artillery gun that could accompany armored units, so it commercialized the M15A1 anti-aircraft self-propelled artillery gun and M16 anti-aircraft self-propelled artillery gun using the M3 halftrack body. In 1943, the development of the higher-performance M24 light tank got underway, and the “Light Combat Team” concept was established to develop various types of self-propelled artillery using the M24 as the common vehicle body, and the M24 body was also used for the anti-aircraft self-propelled artillery. The prototype was the T65E1, which had an open-top turret at the rear with the engine room moved to the center, and was equipped with the M2 40mm machine gun, with 336 rounds of machine gun shells in the turret.
Germany.
Flakpanzer IV Wirbelwind
An anti-aircraft tank that was adapted from the body of the IV tank. The Germans commissioned the Ostbau company to produce this tank to counter enemy aircraft attacks on tank units. The Germans commissioned Ostbau to produce this tank to counter enemy aircraft attacks on their tank units. The order was placed in order to compensate for the shortage of the Möbelwagen, and also because they wanted an anti-aircraft tank that could protect its crew more reliably than the Möbelwagen. The main armament was the 2cm Flakvierling 38.
Japan
Test Anti Aircraft Tank SOKI
The Soki was an anti-aircraft tank developed by the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II. The gun mounted on the tank was the SOKI GUN II type with a 20mm machine gun, also known as the SOKI vehicle.
Soviet Union
ZSU-37
It was the first full-scale self-propelled anti-aircraft gun developed in the Soviet Union during World War II, and was equipped with a 73.8 caliber M1939 (61-K) 37mm machine gun mounted on a SU-76M self-propelled gun chassis.
PREMIUM SQUAD IDEA
Add anti-air tanks fully armored as premium squads.
It will protect the crew from infantry fire extinguishers and have higher air defense capability. However, it is not thickly armored and would be powerless against high BR tank attacks.
I would like to see it sold for $50 a unit, or around $100 for a Canadian and German bundle.
Canada (as U.S. faction)
Skink Tank A.A. 20mm Quad
Canadian anti-aircraft tank with four Paulsen 20mm machine guns, developed in 1943-1944, but cancelled after three vehicles were completed due to the loss of threat by the enemy Luftwaffe.
Germany (Germany)
Flakpanzer IV “Kugelblitz”
The Kugelblitz was an anti-aircraft tank developed by the Wehrmacht during World War II. It was also known as the “Gerät 556” or “Flakpanzerwagen 604/4” (anti-aircraft tank 604/4).
“Kugelblitz” is German for “Ball lightning”
What do you guys think about this idea?
Also, I hope this catches the developer’s eye.
Thank you.
