Currently the only AA weapon is restricted only to engineer squads, making it very difficult to respond to aircraft attacks, as this squad is currently very little used, as most players prefer to play with SMG or light machine gun squads, playing with the Soviet faction, I noticed that the dshk heavy machine gun is an excellent AA weapon (sometimes even better than larger caliber AA weapons), when well positioned on the map, this is due to its tripod, which, unlike the other hmg, allows a higher firing elevation, but unlike the dshk, the Browning m2 and MG 131 machine guns have an extremely low tripod elevation, as they use a tripod for targets on the ground, being in this case the switch to their respective tripods for targets in the air, and in the case of the Browning m2, perhaps this is the addition of an AA sight
The issue with the M2 and MG 131 is that the devs have chosen low tripod mounts mounted on boxes and sandbags, which would make upward firing angles awkward in comparison to the Japanese hotchkiss and Dshk.
It would be better if they had standing tripod mounts like this:
M2
MG 131
Spoiler
I’d replace the AA gun with the heavy machinegun for Engineer 1 squads; maybe going as far to replace it with the GPMG or the rifle-caliber machineguns
in addition I’d make the AA not have the angle restrictions it currently does;
exactly what I had in mind
360 degrees of perfection
To Clarify My Stance:
For Engineer 1:
- Replace the AA turret with either:
-Heavy (12.7mm-14.7mm) Machinegun in an AA-capable mount
-Medium Machinegun/GPMG (6mm-8mm) in an AA Capable Mount
For Engineer 2 or 3:
- Have the Current AA Turret (15-20~mm) revert to the state where it’s capable of horizontal fire.
I don’t think this is a bad idea, but the HMG in an AA-capable mount should be the responsibility of the machine gun squads, to remove the engineering squads’ monopoly on the AA gun, in the same way that the monopoly on the AT guns was removed. allowing AT squadrons to also use
I like the idea of br 1 AA guns being machine guns
my main thought is that they’re obviously going to also be used against infantry, but that having explosive autocannon shells at BR1-2 is obviously going to be overused/too advantageous to defenders,
