A suggestion that would make the mortarman a way better class

Mortars are just not in a good state. They require you to attack from range, which means when using them your not pushing the objective. I think they need an option to have the bots manning the mortars while the rest of the squad, led by the player, advances on the enemy. When you ping the enemy you can order your bots to shell them with frag rounds or cover your advance with smoke.

It’s funny how Enlisted has such a great potential to be a very different game than what it is by just some clever reuses of the mechanics that it already has in place.

If that was implented the mortar will just become the most overpower units

I vote for double shelling on command. Every time you needed more “relevancy” that would cover it. You give the command as mortar man and your fellow squad mate fires close to where your shell lands

I’m not sure what the answer is for mortars. There is a tiny faction who prioritize spamming them, but if not in a stack it’s only useful on a few maps. I’m not sure what the path forward is but, if mortars were removed from the game, I’d have no reaction… positive or negative. It would be like telling me I could no longer purchase a Ford Pinto with a rust free undercoat. Zero reaction.

I would be sad :frowning: I do have them in every stack and enjoy the extra options having a mortar provides. Basically just a Rifle squad with a situational tool.

I like to use them as a one time soften up the point, then assault. Or If there is an area that I know has rally points, AA guns, AT guns and APCs that I have had no success getting to, mortar provides that option.

Not against making it better. But I certainly value this class.

Probably not popular (because of the lazy way of play it can promote) but I would love some kind of buildable for the Engineers of the Mortar class. And its not like there arent people sitting on Mortars, AT guns and Heavy machine guns all game anyway lol

Perhaps it would also be a good time to add a ping on the minimaps for the general area a mortar(or any larger cannon for that matter) is coming from (Not pin Point Accurate). This would promote relocation because of the risk of counter batteries. The Battlefield series employed this, and many RTS titles. It is very effective at punishing the Artillery spammers that pitch a tent.

Respect. I only meant how I would feel. I have no disdain for mortar squads (other than a few who focus their playstyle on it), I just don’t run them. I guess I might if I get bored. I find them uninteresting.

Wow Mortars or Artillery strike kills mostly the complete enemy team in the first 5 seconds, i´m complete against to make them stronger.

Is this a Bait or Joke or something?

I would suggest to remove the distance from Attack Point if you use Mortars…
If you are defender you need marks to hit with them, and as attacker you only have to point directly on the Attack-Point.

Thats why my mortar squads are all equipped with binoculars to peep at the enemy while on defense :telescope:

jeah and the same should be as attacker…
and after every shot the mortar should be recalibriert again not spamming 20 explosives without any effort exact on 1 spot.

Most Peoples quit Games because within 5 seconds the whole defender team got destroyed and the first point is already fallen
