Seems there’s a version of another game just released that has historical equipment, historical units compositions, historical opponents, lets you take over and play any infantryman or tanker in your side, and the bot AI for the rest ins’t stupid.
Just watched a couple of YT vids/adds for it - purchased it and looking forward to getting some time in it - I’ve still got over a year of Premium time in this game, but perhaps I won’t need it…
Perhaps I thought it was enough of a description for vets to figure out - I’m old, but not in terms of playing the newer WW2 games.
I had also thought there was a condition of use here that banned promoting other games, but I don’t see it… so - CTA: Gates of Hell - Ostfront
ET: To me it looks like it might be a great successor to Combat Mission from the early 2000’s - which is still going but the “We Go” move system was a bit of a pain.
GoH Ostfront is amazing, though I wouldnt say its a substitute for enlisted, they scratch different itches for me. Its more Men at War, than Heroes and Generals.
Neither of which I have played - as I said for me it looks like Combat Mission - a great game but it never broke into the general gamers’ market, instead remaining a niche wargamer’s favourite
I’ve downloaded and played several other online ww2 games in the past six months, and recently downloaded “Hell let Loose”. I have played it a few times, the graphics are decent, however it takes forever to get into a match and when your in a game it seems like all you do is run around looking for the enemy because I hardly ever encounter them.
The first time I played, I saw a couple different dudes with different color logo’s above their heads, thought they were the enemy so I shot them, only to find out they were my team mates from a different company and I’d killed them with friendly fire . A few minutes later, one of those dudes tracked me down and killed me.
Long story short, in no way have I found a substitute for Enlisted.
hell let loose is only a running simulator if you refuse to understand how it works, placing rallies and garries is as much of a mechanic as it is in enlisted
I will have to disagree.
I’m sorry but goh is a succesor to mowas2 with robz mod, thats about what it is, it is by far nowhere near combat mission, not in terms of gameplay, not in terms of historical accuracy, not in terms of anything really, its 2 different games, CM is very much a 'simulator" or at least close to it, CM is more akin to mius front than Goh. Whereas goh is much more arcadey in its standing, its much simpler to play, its sorta sd2, mowas2 stuff
And frankly, how in the hell can you even remotely compare goh - rts, with enlisted - shooter ???
Enlsited should be compared to idk, hell let loose and squad 44, not frigging goh lol.
Although alright, in fairness, you can draw some paralels between goh and enlisted, still, its kinda funny
I’ve played RTS games where you could select a specific element to play so it became FPS while you did so - eg the one I remember most was a Battle of Britain game where you controlled the targeting of Luftwaffe bombers and fighters, or allocated RAF squadrons to intercept… but hen you could select a specific aircraft to fly as pilot, or as a gunner on the bombers - this was in the early 1990’s.
My problem with Enlisted isn’t that it is FPS - it is that it is an arcade game with little connection to reality other than ostensibly being set in WW2 - and that is getting less and less with every update!
