The Cossacks infantry squad or the 9th Krasnodar Plastun which is a battalion where the main recruiting happen in the Caucasus they’re often can tell they’re Cossacks by the hat they wear or sometimes the coats they wear
Back in ww1 the Ottoman Empire invaded the Caucasus and with it a defeat in ww1 in the Caucasus but the Cossacks there captured the beautiful Mauser M1903 from the Ottoman Empire that shoots 8mm Mauser now used against the Germans

Yeah but I they’re the same thing… but different uniform they’re literally the same style standard uniform traditional hats also they would wear their traditional garbs outside of combat and the capes too for both sides
Also first photo isn’t even Cossacks they’re Tatars
Also most of them didn’t even fought in Russia they where fighting partisan’s in Yugoslavia
