Farming bombers used to be even better for padding stats. You actually got kills from the vehicle crew, depending on the bomber you could rack up 20 kills, 5 vehicle kills, 25 assists, and 2225 points per airstrike.

Congrats, you did the easiest thing to get 1st place there is in Enlisted. Farming the enemy’s stupidity

Well, bombers are indeed stupid.
As is the act of calling them
There was only 1 bombing run. I intercepted them just after they spawned, took all 5 of them down, and they never called in another. This was 16 dogfights, 5 bombers, and one apc. Ground wasn’t generally marking targets very well and every time I did have a good ground run lined up, I had to break off to go shoot down 2 Nazis trying to get me.
I got shot down once. I think it came from the ground, but it happened fast so I could have been caught by an enemy fighter. There was one in the sky that I cut apart as soon as I jumped in my other plane.
I was flying around with a damaged engine (no leak, thankfully), a red fuselage, and a red right wing for half the game.

No, calling in bombers to drop on a point is a great way to bait enemy fighters to fly out to the edge of the map rather than flying an air patrol over the site and giving CAS. Get a good fighter to head out and tail the bogey hunting points and you can get fairly easy dogfight wins.
If they don’t take the bait, then your bombers clear out enemy reinforcements running to support the capture point and create a window for a coordinated assault.
Back when I was leveling aircraft squads, I liked to call airstrikes to both bait enemy interceptors into the air for me to shoot down. It also often lead to someone on the enemy team calling their own airstrikes which I could shoot down for easy squad XP farming.
