I will first note if you are just going to argue that defense is “easy” and doesn’t need a buff, please don’t spam this post with such. Thanks.
As a defender, you really don’t get any kind of “home field advantage” currently. You are forced back usually to one of two locations so you don’t know where to set up defenses until it goes there. Even if you do guess correctly, your defenses can get in the way of teammates pushing to current objectives, and they will break them down without a second thought. (A lot of these singleminded teammates seem to never use rally points to avoid this I might add.)
My SOLUTION:
Move defense teams spawns forward a little bit, and add a third spawn, directly on next objective, only accessible if you have an engineer present in your squad. If it is an area type objective, it’s boundaries will be displayed dotted so you know how far out defenses need to be placed.
This way, defenders can put up fortifications without hindering teammates pushing to current objectives.
I like the idea to have a rear spawn for engineers to fortify.
As well, on most maps the first spawn needs more premade fortifications.
Invasion is supposed to be an affair of attack and defense, but in practice right now it’s more like one team is playing king of the hill while the other plays team deathmatch. The attacking team is just assaulting an inconspicuous house most of the time.
Also show where the next cap is on the map, and don’t force me to spawn right on the cap at the start if I’m going to be building stuff with an engineer or laying mines
Looking at how things like game mode objectives work, I don’t think defenders were intended to have a chance to do anything other than be entertaining targets. This change alone won’t do much.
