4th MG gunner in MG3 squad

This topic has been posted before probably way more thought out but i’m just bumping it.

This time specified to MG3 squad so it isn’t too overwhelming perhaps?

MGs are fun and having 4 equal to the ones in premium squads and assaulter squads would be nice and there is no reason why you shouldn’t be able to when basically you are at BRV with mg3 anyway.

Sure you could take this in low tier but it would give a sense of advancement.

Why run mg squads with only 3 when i can just use rifleman squads that have 9 men all of equal power.

Because even br5 can see br4 and only br5 riflemen are equal to mgs

I don’t really like diversifying Class I, Class II, whatever. I think it’s redundant

But in general I could see myself being in favor of a 4th MG. Maybe all squads should have 4 or 5 specialists.

Remember it’s just an option. Maybe I want to have 4 or 5 MGs, someone else can have 2 MGs, 1 Assault, 1 Radio, 1 AT, etc

When your building your squads, you should have the option of a fourth machine gunner in every machine gun squad. Those who don’t want the fourth can add the appropriate member that suits his taste. I would also like to see more Medic options in squads, especially assaulter squads. Yeah, if you could choose to run four machine gunners, that would add another four BAR’s to my level three Allies as I already run four BAR squads, and one APC with two BAR’s which would give me a total of 18 BAR’s, up from my current 15 I think. :blush:


This would be one of my machine gun squad if four MG’s were allowed.

So this whole topic is essentially caused by BR5 power creep.
Because of this I’m against it on principle. Stupidity of BR5 shouldn’t be used as argument for balance changes affecting the whole game.

Like i said there was another post about this that was way more thought out and that’s one reason i could think of but if assaulter can get 4 why can’t MG?

Sure MGs are marginally more powerful but I just don’t see a reason to leave that one guy just a normal rifleman other than balancing purposes

Well the fact that assaulter squads have one more assaulter than MG squads have MG gunners comes from back in the beta, when MGs had no dispersion and were basically big assault rifles.

Maybe gameplay wise this could make sense - but “realistically” too many MGs in one squad is overkill from a HA perspective I think… well 9 man Volkssturm with FG42 is also ridiculous, but thats a different topic I guess.
