I’ve tried experimenting with different engineer squads, you can only build a maximun of 1 MG nest, 1x Field Gun and 2 x AA guns, 1 spawn, 3 ammo boxes, 10 barbed wire and 6 tank traps. With 4 engineers in an engi squad I think the 40% resource perk is not really that useful unless you only have 1 engineer left. Also other squads which carry one or 2 engineers cannot build gun emplacements, so I think it’s limited in use.
With one squad I built everything you can possibly build till it wouldn’t allow me to build anymore. I still had resources left, and none of my squad had the +40% resources perk, so it seems meh to me, just an observation, maybe some of you guys love the perk IDK just my observation.
You also use resources to rebuild things when they get destroyed, fix MG nest or replenish ammo in AT or AA guns.
There is also a possibility that some of your engineers will die before you get to use their resources. So having a little bit more on the engieneer that survived can be vital.
As someone that could be considered an “engineer main” I can tell you that this perk is really usefull to me.
I use 1 engineer in each squad and this perk is really useful. Normally you can build rally, 1-2 ammo boxes and still have plenty to make some snadbags, wire or other obstacles but without perk you would run out of resources by that time. I also recommend construction speed perk as it makes building rally points less annoying.
When you run out of ammo take out your hammer and hold T. Pretty usefull funcion and finally you don’t need to destroy the gun and rebuild it to get few more rounds.
