Working on some different one-on-one maps/modes in editor.
Just wanted to hear about general preferences?
Only one level or more (2-3 floors)?
Small/medium/large maps?
One united battle area with random spawns or like two protected bases and one neutral zone?
I want the battlefield and the conditions to be completly fair so maybe gun game logic?
anything else to think about?

A building can be problematic when talking about fairness, especially because if one guy creates some kind of a fort on the upper levels it might be hard to go there.
But a map like banhof it’s okay, there are several ways to fight and such. But anyway that’s my personal opinion.

As @104294422 noted, Banhof is a great map for 1v1, seen some dudes streaming some friendly 1v1s on it, use that as a template or layout example.

noice. What about size. Like a small action packed one or ?
And should there be like one neutral battle zone and 2 seperated bases where you spawn?
Or full chaos with randomness spawns all over the field?

I made some arena maps (not 1v1) but all of them had the same problem: I found them to be boring/hard to balance. I will show some examples, it may help someone what to NOT do when designing maps, idk:
3 Islands with a central neutral zone. The spawns are on the other 2 islands. It’s important to obscure the spawn to prevent spawn camping. Spawns also shouldn’t be too close to the battle (neutral) area.
Same as above but with a different look. 3 “Islands” connected by bridges. Problem: Once a team overruns the center tower it will start spawncamping the enemy spawn.
Ravine Town:
This wasn’t THAT bad, but ultimately has the same problem; Once a team overruns the neutral part of the map, it’s very hard for the opposing team to counter attack. You could also spam grenades into the enemy spawn because it’s below the battle area.
An 1vs1 map should always be a Team Deathmatch and never a conquest IMO.

Yeah one action-packed deathmatch is what i thinking of.
Spawn campaing should be easy to avoid in 1v1. Let’s say you got at least 4 entrences from two directions (North/South) for one player. and 4 entrances from West/East for the other.
