As the title says. I’ll explain.
The reason why we should have 12vs12 instead of 10vs10 is because of the following reasons:
- 2 planes. I don’t know if it’s a bug in Normandy but I find that the US (I play US btw) can use 2 planes, one as an attacking plane and one as a fighting plane. However, the Germans only get 1 plane. Increasing players to 12vs12 in Squad mode will help the Germans to have 2 planes, as long as both are attacker and fighter and not 2 atackers/fighters, just like the US
Reason: I don’t know if it’s a bug in the US, but basically if I use a-20, someone else will use a fighter plane. Not sure if it’s meant to be a feature. But anyway, this creates a balance in the air, and I’ll explain why - the figther’s job is to fight other enemy planes. The attacker’s job is to provide support for its infantrymen by bombing the enemy ground forces, whether it be by tanks, infantrymen, etc. And if you think about it, the fighter compliments with the attacker. Both are meant to work together, the fighter is meant to protect the attacker, and the attacker is meant to wipe out the enemy to allow its infantrymen advance. Otherwise, what is the point of having those types of planes, when only a type of plane gets used and not the other one?
The problem of a 2vs1 scenario will be solved just by making it 2vs2, meaning that Germans now have a chance to compete with the Americans. This means that the attackers will not get away with bombing all the time, they have to be aware of the enemy air forces - and this requires teamwork.
- Balanced. As the reason above here - this means that we get 2 tanks, as long as they’re both not the same tanks, 2 planes (1 attacker and 1 fighter), and rest is basically infantrymen (8 squads). This needs to apply to all campaigns
Reason: It makes sense. If it was just 10vs10… you only get 6 infantrymen, 2 tanks, 2 planes… And that is not enough for the infantrymen - what happens if the attacker pilot bombs so many players, to the point where all the squads have been wiped out? Making it 12vs12 means that there will be more infantrymen, plus there is a possibility that 1-2 more squads will be spread out more on the map, making them not the victim of bombing.
- Since it’s been confirmed that artillary spam will be nerfed, and I don’t know if that is true for mortar as well, 12vs12 won’t hurt too much - just means that there will be more infantrymen on the ground, and the attackers have a good chance to attack, and likewise for the defenders. And hopefully this won’t hurt the FPS performance
Hopefully devs read this and will think about making Squad mode the 12vs12 battle instead of 10vs10.
