Why do paratroopers keep dying when deploying?

When I use the paratroopers, almost every time I spawn, half of my squad (2-4 soldiers) dies because they deploy their parachutes too late. Is it just me or does it happen to other people as well?
As an example:

Idk I never seeyed this with my paratroopers, my AI always open the parachute and arrive at the drop point, sure them dont get sniped by enemy bot?

Hey! It’s a bug, you can counter this bug by waiting a little bit before spawning, ~10 more seconds.

Except it happens to me not only at the beginning of the battle (where I have even bigger problems which I reported a couple of months ago), but basically any time I use paratroopers.

Used my Pacific Japanese paras 3x times now, and all landed safely, and on target 2x, -1 time, where somehow i ended up 400 metres from target, lol was a long run to get back to battle

Definitely not. It looks like they either open their parachutes too late and just slam into the ground or don’t open them at all.

Deploy them at some peripheral place at map ( optionaly dnemy flanks) and take engineer gear.
% 80 of the time we mesmerise enemy team before they could understand what is happening

In Pacific it did not happened me anytime.

You seem like a familiar helper.

If it’s such a consistent problem for you, then you could swap between soldiers and manually deploy the parachute. I do the exact opposite, and cycle soldiers until they’ve all deployed by themselves to prevent my own user error with opening too early or late.

This happens to me exactly as described by OP.

Both Normandy squads and both Pacific squads (though limited time with allies). I think I’ve had 2 total drops where everyone survived. Para #1 usually dies no matter where I deploy his chute OR if I immediately switch off. I have had 4 die from hard fall.

It’s pretty annoying and must be a bug. You hear the chute open and the dude just never slows down even if you pull the cord immediately after jumping.

Pull cord no later than 270

That’s not it (pulling the cord too late).

if you plane gets damaged or shot sometimes they end up all dying

I think people who aren’t suffering this will forever continue to assume:

a) Pressed button too late to deploy chute
b) Got shot
c) Plane got shot injuring or killing troopers

For me, it’s none of that. I had a few successful drops with allies in Pacific today but I’d say still easily over 90% of the time I have had at least one soldier drop straight down hard and die despite the button being pressed to deploy the chute. When you’re in control of them it’s pretty easy to see that you weren’t shot.

Something is up. I’m not particularly fired up about it but think it’s interesting that it seems fairly isolated. I’m also not in love with the fact that everyone just responds with a), b) and c).
