We used to to have exactly that kind of censorship of video games in Germany. In Counter Strike, all death animations were changed, so that “defeated” enemies just sit down on the ground and shake their heads in disappointment.
Thankfully, that was just a phase, albeit a very long and embarrassing one.
My reaction was no fucking way, I had to look it up that’s hilarious.
you would be surprised by level of censorship in western countries. you have tech companies with woke agenda brainwashing (most social medias were banning people for e.g. dead naming), you also have “anti-science” censorship, you have “misinformation” censorship, there is “facebook” police in many western countries (britain is one of the worst offenders, look at rowan atkinson free speech on youtube, also look at count dankula case). also youtube was banning anyone who questioned 2020 election legitimacy.
you also have cases like donziger who fought against chevron and won, just to be punished with imprisonment in corrupt private lawsuit (with corrupt judge) that chevron brought against him.
there is also amazon banning account cause of “racist doorbell” and apple banning repair technician from forum after she said that you can repair water damage on iphone (at least enough to transfer all your data) while apple is officially claiming it is impossible.
you also have financial institutions banning individuals based on their politics/beliefs/work.
there is also google with hiding information and links. most recent one was removal of newpipe.net from google search results cause it could bypass ads on youtube.
btw i expect that your comment will be soon reported and deleted cause you mentioned certain country in negative context.
Still, no where near the level of censorship of China. The fact there is censorship everywhere doesn’t put every censorship on the same level. People really take not living in a dictatorship for granted and compare every inkling to one out of context and compare it 1:1.
Unless it’s to prevent it turning into one, then it’s good but for me it really isn’t the same.
A phase that is gone, so we don’t have it. Germany has had China level censorship in the past, like midway last century but thats gone too now isn’t it?
Besides, a video game itself is not comparable to China censorship as a whole.
That dislike being removed is likely done because i know those features get abused by Chinese, and other, bots to guess what…enforce their censorship outside of their borders.
What country are you in?
That probably affects it.
I’m living in Indonesia for a decade now, as a Dutchman. Have lived in 4 continents and regularly visit a fifth.
How does it affect it?
I don’t think Indonesia cares to much, but some countries care a lot about symbols and some ideas.
Like some countries saying there is no

To understand freedom might, on average, have something to do with where you live but to apply that to a single person isn’t very accurate I think.
But to each their own. Probably best end it there. Anyone feel free to add your final thoughts because those are mine. Apologies for dragging this on.
It also depends on who leads your country, but yes, best to leave it here.
yes i agree that you cant beat china in censorship. that is whole special category for itself. but western countries are not peachy either and it is simply getting worse every new year.
btw some things that i forgot to mention
whistleblowers like chelsea manning, edward snowden
journalist like julian assange
SLAPP lawsuits
guided content/speech on social platforms through demonetization (youtube new policy from few months ago was insane)
acceptable content (political or otherwise) on monetization platforms like patreon or crowdfunding websites like gofundme
google maps are adjusted depending on the country you are accessing internet from and what that country thinks its borders are.
sometimes i think that we are living in some black mirror episode where we are in giant experiment where 2 sides compete who will control people better… one controls people with extreme censorship and strict rules, while other controls people through guided speech/content with punishment and rewards.
<edit, sorry replied even though I said I wouldn’t>
Summary, I pretty much agree.
No comment, you are completely disillusional about freedom in Europe nowadays.
Btw. You can get back dislike button pretty much easily. It can counter onky stupid normies. I doubt it would be efficient against Chinese who are using stuff like VPN and so on.
I think reason for its removal is completely different, money.
If you are not wealthy nowadays, your freedom is very debatable here, lol.
Btw. Imagine saying you don’t think being gay is okay => immediately fired from work.
Enjoy your freedom of opinions, poor guy. Your wife will leave you soon since you are unable to pay for rent & stuff.
(you can turn on english subs)
We had things like that in TV 20 years back. Now? Pretty much unthinkable, you would be cancelled.
Literally humour is punishable now.
But yeah, definitely now censorship. Freedom is just for the wealthy. Overabusing capitalism to its finest.
I was commenting on the specific example provided.
I was talking about censorship of GAMES. And This century. Not 1933 - 1945. Violent games were censored from the start in Germany and then it got even worse after a school shooting. Moral panics can happen anywhere and at any time.
Talking about censorship and authoritarianism in general: No, I don’t think it will be as bad again as it used to be, or as bad as it is in China today. But people in general are lazy and censorship is a convenient way to deal with different opinions and uncomfortable truths. We will never get rid of it entirely.
Sorry, I don’t want to dogpile on you. Just clarifying my position.
hey, by the way, do you know when will the Anti tank weapones be fixed?
They are already fixed.
And I already used them in battle at close range, so it’s legit.
But if you’re referring to AT cannons on planes, they’ll probably never be fixed.
It was Fixed with " Making Enlisted a Better Place №40 ".
thank you
