If I understand your suggestion correctly, I wouldn’t be against it. But I really don’t think it would somehow drastically influence/change the meta. nor I think it would help for more strategic approach. Most likely it would end up with overspammed objective with nonsensical defenses to block Pathfindings of bots.
And it would be just another small nerf for radiomen squads.
Plus one small nitpick, I have not seen GL for ages. They really aren’t meta.

And I want to apologize to you I was triggered by this sentence:

My reaction was way more toxic than it should be. But I will not change it, it would ruin context of this discussion.

I laughed lol
But that’s why I said:

I truly appreciate that you were able to apologize, and that this recent post was without any kind of trolling.

The only way to find out for SURE is to test it. Now i’ve played custom games with small groups and rulesets that help to test it and to test how difficult it would be if the ability to remove fortifications by standard troops was taken out. Contrary to how much everyone fights it, it actually was pretty good, both for offense and defense side.

Perhaps not in your games, but we see them pretty frequently, especially in Moscow and Normandy campaigns. The biggest issue that we have with them is that they are taking out entire groups of sandbags in one or two hits (or even just landing nearby). This coupled with the fact that they get 3 shots each and are usually carried by riflemen squads that also are packing 3 grenades each, is far too much firepower to not have some kind of defense against.

I think they got nerfed, they’re only effective if you can get a direct it. So I presume people stopped using them so much because now you need skill to use them lol
