I doubt this will get added, especially after the current levels. Though if there were a rework, I was thinking, for smol tanks we could have the L3/33 CC (has a 20mm) vs Light Tank Mk VI (has a 12.7mm and 15mm). Or the L3 with a 6.5mm vs the universal carrier with a Bren. Or even the L3/35 LF vs the Wasp Mk II (flamethrower variants of the L3 and universal carrier), though I couldn’t find sources which claimed the Wasp saw service in Africa.

technically if the game opted for a nation progression system instead of the campaign you could insert all kinds of weapons and vehicles without unbalancing anything

I think it would still okay, since these vehicles are upgrade of motorcycle, not tank.
