But they also gave you four in the previous activity. And in my opinion, Thompson. 30’ s sight makes people feel comfortable.(The sight of the American submachine gun is too blocking the line of sight.)
Best not drum mag Thompson, just use it as a carbine instead like a SMG…
Don’t be trigger happy with it
In my humble opinion…
Both are great. It’s a really difficult choice for me.
I already had 1 tommy, and 3 rifles from last time, simply because I really like rifles.
This event, I’ll get 1 oh each to have 2 tommy and 4 rifles total.
Questions of preferences and play style.
Are those saying the .30 is one of, if not the, best tommy gun right? Yes they are. It’s a fantastic smg, only downside is there’s just 20 rounds per magazine. I recommend it if you like allies a lot.
The rifle is ALSO great thought. It’s iron sight need a bit getting used to, but it’s a beast of a rifle that hits like a truck. For early battle rating, there’s not much better than that (rifles).
You just have to remember one important thing: tommy WILL be for end battle rating only, and the rifle will probably be starter to mid BR once the war thunder conversion is released. Something to consider.
Thompsons are trash/ too high for their performance apart from the M21 and the drum (and that only because it has a drum).
I do enjoy the Gewehr 98 warmod:
It’s the most accurate unscoped boltie. (0.006 dispersion)
25 rounds + 75 in reserve with ammo pouches (ammo for days)
27.3 damage, so it will instakill no downed state vitality users.
Although it does need the Bolt-Action RoF perk, since it’s a bit slow, i wouldn’t recommend using all rounds to reload, it takes 3.7s to reload one stripper clip, so I reload when I don’t see enemies. Sights can be a factor too, personally I’m not bothered by them.
As for the .30 cal thompson, I use M2 Carbines instead, but it’s a nice weapon as long as you learn to not instantly fire all of the magazine in just one enemy but it reloads super quickly to compensate.
I got 2 of each last event, so I’ll pick one of each this time.
Not having to reload is actually pretty nice - yet it cycles very very slowly and the sights are not good.
The only use for this weapon in my mind is when you don’t wanna bring an ammo pouch but something different.
But seriously tho, its far from the best bolt action.
I often find myself burning 25-50 rounds with Mannlicher pretty quickly, and often.
Never fires even close to that many rounds with G98 if it’s not a typical bot-farming game.
25 bullets mannlicher/kar98k (including reload) > G98 Wartime mode 25 round.
Imo
Now I already knew it was accurate, but I didn’t know at such an extent!
Missing a shot with this will always be the shooter’s fault, never the rifle.
(And true, real allies assaulters use the good old m2 gold order carbine )
M93 or the one also found in Normandy? The “lil” mannlicher is really good at mid range, fires so fast. G98 really shine at long to very long range (hi power, unbeatable accuracy). I wouldn’t recommend it in cqc thought, true.
Yeah, was thinking of M1895!
But agree, sights are pretty tricky on long distance, where G98 shines. To be fair Kar98k is the perfect rifle somewhere between those two. Best sights and works good in close range.
Check out this amazing sheet by Euthy.
I’ve spent a lot of hours on this sheet
thompson .30 cal
I like using both but
thompson .30 cal
Rifle, rifle, rifle!!!
Dont need to reload…kill after kill after kill
If I might share my two cents as a player:
I’d stick with the Gewehr and that only because I don’t feel that comfortable with SMG’s 20 rounds.
After the buff of BA rifles, you have a formidable one with 25 rounds per mag.
But be aware: Aim a little bit lower than you think. It is a bit weird but works.
Also one thing to mention about that .30 cal.
It’s quite annoying to run a squad with more than one soldier with this tommy. It’s way too often you switch to next guy with only a couple of bullets left. Same with 3rd, same with 4th.
But I do it anyway
Just got the last one!
Lovely
The guy who just started Normandy Axis
Those gents has’t nothing to feareth, f’r I, adamnpee, shall cometh to saveth the day
Gewehr 98 - same bolt action rifle as every other
Thomspon .30 cal - useless if you unlocked Thompson M21/28. Big recoil + small magazine.
Yeah, no wonder BR became necessary.
Player distribution is only part of the problem, veterans with the best meta gear usually stack one side on a campaign. While the average enlisted player has less than 18 lvls on the campaign.
