The Panzer 38t n.A was a prototype light tank created in 1942 in a batch of 5 examples, indended to fit the role for the Wermacht’s new light tank, as the Panzer 2s that were currently serviced were becoming obsolete even in that role. One of the firms competing in the competition for this light tank was the rebranded Czech ČKD (now at that point BMM), which presented this tank. It was a development of the Panzer 38t series, but had major changes compared to the originals - a new more powerful engine, larger road wheels and tracks, expanded and redesigned hull, and a completely new turret. It kept the 37mm 37mm KwK38(t) cannon but used a coaxial MG34 instead of the normal Czech machine gun, and had 30/25/20 millimeters of armor on both the turret and hull. While the tank ended up losing to MAN’s Panzer 2 Luchs, it’s running gear design would later be used on the Jagdpanzer 38t “Hetzer”.
This is quite different from that one, and I have that squad BTW. It has a redesigned hull, new turret, and new engine. The only thing not majorly different is the armament. How is this not unique? Even just looking at the two the differences are clear.
If there’s no need for prototypes in the TT, then they shouldn’t be added. How about the panzer 38(t) A instead? Or any other tank that saw combat and is unique.
I suggested that tank as well a while back, but I didn’t ever say this tank should be TT. I kept it as an option in the poll, but I voted for it to be event, which looks to be the popular decision.
Right, but why have a prototype instead of a tank which saw combat? The 38(t) A is diffrent from the F in that is has half the armor, but I assume it is faster (similar to this model), so it’d be a perferable alternative in every way.
