Indeed, the most important change for jeeps is increasing passenger capacity.
Otherwise, it will just become a second failed motorcycle squad.
At the end of the day, it is just a vehicle. There is no need to strictly enforce one seat per person. In my opinion, an entire 9-man squad can pile on as long as the soldiers hold on to the vehicle.
As a compromise, soldiers clinging onto the exterior who need both hands to grip the vehicle can simply be set unable to fire weapons.
Speaking of motorcycles, they are already a failed addition.
There are several major issues with motorcycle squads:
Poor steering and reversing.
At top speed, steering is nearly impossible; you can only drive straight forward.
Very limited options for vehicle‑mounted weapons. Combined with mobility flaws, it is hard to rotate the whole bike to adjust firing arcs.
Urban maps are filled with indestructible concrete pillars, chains, high‑durability barbed wire and wooden posts made by DF, making motorcycles extremely hard to navigate.
With all these drawbacks, jeeps are much better even with their own flaws.
Yet even the premium jeep squads only have three crew members, which feels like a half‑baked compromise. They should have at least five soldiers.
Jeep mechanics still need more work. The German machine gun on premium jeeps overheats far too quickly, unlike the unlimited heat mechanics on motorcycle weapons. The American bazooka has severe projectile drop and lacks range adjustment found on the original bazooka.
Overall, jeeps feel like a stopgap made just to satisfy player requests. The hype from this update will fade quickly without further improvements.
To be fair sidecars on motorbikes handle poorly IRL, if we want to improve bikes the better thing to do would be add motorbikes without side cars (so they actually handle well) and have three of them in a bike squad with six soldiers and let most of them be specialists. Additionally the effects of sidecars ruining handling should be reduced by a third plus having two sidecar motorbikes in a squad for a total of 6 soldiers (same as three motorbikes) all of which would be helpful buffs. As for jeeps they need more than three soldiers 4-6 would be better. I think removing or greatly reducing the overheat for the jeep MG’s would be best and allowing greater elevation and depression especially for the AA Premium Kubelwagen and change the ammo from 50 to 150 as modeled.
Exactly. Now that jeeps are already implemented, it does not make sense to nerf its design over fears of anti‑air capability, and make its machine gun overheat far worse than other vehicle‑mounted MGs. Players who bought this premium vehicle will end up losing out badly.
This premium German jeep they were proud of may even be inferior to the Soviet DS‑39 jeep.
In my opinion, either remove those concrete pillars on urban maps to open fast routes for light vehicles, or reduce their durability.
This will let light vehicles move properly in close‑quarter maps. Otherwise jeeps are like sitting ducks; once you stop, you get wiped out.
Motorcycles need better steering and reversing, plus reworked mounted machine guns. Based on real‑world models, these guns should be able to turn 180 degrees. The in-game firing arc is heavily restricted, so currently motorcycle squads mostly just feed kills, or their wreckage is only used as a crude barricade.
If sidecarless motorcycles can be added, then horses would also be reasonable to implement. But this will overcomplicate things, similar to how releasing one aircraft in World of Warships often brings six accompanying vehicles.
The squad is not a single unified unit. AI will get stuck when moving through narrow passages. The technical workload to keep AI constantly following the player would be extremely high.
I think motorcycles should have at least 4 crew members, and jeeps 6. The squad size needs to make sense first.
Then handling, terrain performance, weapon setup and overheating mechanics all need polishing before these vehicles can be considered properly finished.
If not, they will quickly lose popularity just like that bullpup machine gun without proper weapon resting, and become forgotten content.
