Shield was mostly effective against SMG fire but bolt action will go straight through
It’s a trade-off for lower RoF compared to german MG’s

Can you post a picture of what this wheeled MG setup is for the maxim that you’re asking for?
All I can think of were the old 1800s ones with tiny wheels that would be a joke.
The wheeled maxim was actually produced until early 1960’s but it was replaced by PK machine gun.
Pictures can be found on this topic:
Yeah that’s the 1800s meme cart so I was definitely right to vote sandbags.
What’s wrong with meme karts
You mean this one? It’s not a meme cart, it’s relict of WW1. If british could fight with their vickers I don’t see a reason why russians shouldn’t do the same with their maxims.
that’s not true
The shielded version with a huge shutter on top of it is a ww2 variant, not ww1
M1910 was produced until 1960
I don’t believe it too
I agree, I just put BAR there because BAR was the only MG for US in beta test
Again, that is not true
People tend to underestimate the power of water cooled MG’s in ww2
Imo M1917 could be engineer mount and M1919 infantry equipable weapon
Water jacket can sometimes eat bullets and save the gunner.
M1917 was the standard US heavy MG throughout both world wars
It was even captured by the Germans
That’s true
DSHK could be used for Berlin campaign but not for Moscow
In my opinion water cooled MGs were outdated in WW2. When they were set they were monsters, but in maneuver warfare, like WW2, you don’t have much speed while you carry this milled steel water container and it takes time to place it every time you see an enemy. Not ideal for being fast fire support.
But overall they would work perfectly fine even in modern warfare.
That’s partially true
They were still quite effective in ww2, only Germans who had better MG technology in ww2 compared to allies didn’t use water cooled MG’s as standard HMG
M1910 Maxim was praised by the soviet soldiers and it is called a weapon of victory
We don’t need M1917 for the US but Maxim for the USSR is a must-have and that’s why such a lot of people want it
Tbh it was the only russian WW2 HMG I knew until recently
That’s not a good comparison
Germans didn’t even have HMG’s, Americans had M1917 and M2(only mounted on vehicles), British had Vickers water cooled throughout the whole war
Russians did use SGMT air cooled HMG in 1943-45 but didn’t like using it and kept praising the Maxim
That’s why we need it in Enlisted, it’s too iconic to be ignored and I know majority will agree with me
We may argue here but I don’t have time.
I wouldn’t want a dushka just because of the caliber.
What would be cool would be the ability to place the Maxim on its stand and then be able to shuffle the height up and down to match the window.
I think the Maxim (and wheeled carriage ) also had the ability to be mounted on tripods too?
The SG43 which is a 7.62x54R caliber made in 1943 would be the better pick for the later Berlin map. The 1910 maxim would be perfect for Moscow as the Russians were primarily using it
I like that idea
could be cool
Something like lafette Maxim
But wouldn’t it be too much considering Maxim already has a shield?
I think this higher mounted Maxim is even better idea than normal from gameplay perspective. Wheels wouldn’t serve any purpose anyway because engineer MG is stationary and this mount would allow setting Maxims in buildings etc. So my suggestion is to bring Maxim on this mount and ignore the historical fact that it was more commonly used on its wheels.
Shield would protect only from small calibers, what is rather rare anyway - most of the time its the snipers who shoot at MG nests.
Not really. The current damage model of mounted MGs allows anyone with a rifle to take a guessed shot and make the MG inoperable. This was intentionally done after the first version became too OP in the small maps we have now. It lead to all sorts of mayhem from the respwan points to the capture zone.
I personally would like this to stay as it forces players to be careful about where they build their MGs.
