Let me give you a bit of a truth nuke. And I won’t be as nice as I tend to be in choosing my words, given how fast this game’s playerbase skill ceiling is deteriorating and how devs seem to be set on ignoring it.
You wish to punish player who decided to not play his best, yet is forced to, just to be able to engage in banter on forum. Yet seem to completely overlook the other 9 players of which 1 or 2 might be worth something and the rest, that are incredibly retarded vegetables, one could refer to as “the average player” who by actually playing, are sinking the match faster than the Titanic did.
Now it’s a bit presumptions to except someone to always play his best and carry. The game does not pay us, and neither does the anchoring garbage that is often our team. Actually there’s more aspects that make this game a slog and unfun, your own team often being the biggest. So if we decide to take it easy or tend to other matters mid-match, it is our right to do so.
You and everyone else is free to do so too actually, difference might be, when we go AFK you lose the match in a span of 5 to 10 minutes. When you leave, the drain on reserves is slower and game actually last longer, perhaps even becomes easier/winnable.
So instead of calling out someone I personally have played against and know falls under the “carry” category of players, back when he was still invested in it. You might as well point out the larger problem. Why is 1 specific person not performing sinking a match when there’s 9 other players? Might be the fact that more than 2/3 of the playerbase can get their asses handed to them by Bolties even when spamming BR V equipment and their tactical capabilities and awareness are at the level of the bottom of the ocean.

for something to deteriorate it had to exist in the first place… player skill has been pretty much constant since i started playing, 90% of shit players and 10% of people who actually know what they are doing.

It has not been at the level of a sniper guy having 4/8 by the 15th minute of the match.
Sure you might have seen that a year ago with one player per match, but now it’s usually 2-4 guys at the bottom of the leader board, those above them till the 3rd place usually are around below 15/9
You’d expect them to be on par or above bots, yet they aren’t.

I don’t know if Normandy is a good example, was often a one-sided stomp against US, but despite it being bad back then, even you should be able to see the difference from nowadays.
Except for that one utter stomp defeat on US, already from the 8-7th place on the leaderboard, all players are pulling weight and staying positive. Today you can see negative players at 5th place in team and most tragic is, it is not even that uncommon. It’s almost every other match.
But I agree the skill ceiling was never that high, but it certainly got worse and worse over time.
i wouldnt call many of these players pulling weight… also you forget that 1:1 ratio is 1 soldier to 1 squad death(3-9 soldiers), so positive KD ratio should be at minimum 3:1 if KD ratio was actually measure of skill in this game.
i never noticed this cause i usually need to solo carry and that hasnt changed in last 4 years since i started playing this game. certainly there were some times when people stacked certain factions so there was bias, but few months after merge it is pretty much same situation… i usually hard carry my team to victory or i play against stack of veterans that roflstomp me. only time i notice difference in teams is when i am playing against japan…

Oh god, I forgot. God this makes it so much worse when looking at it. I think I want to know to go back in time when I wasn’t taking the fact into consideration.
I mean that has always been the case, difference is how hard it’s become. Back then having 2 top scorers against just you in your team could be a good match regardless. Nowadays just having one additional good player on the other side is a massive leverage and makes it painful. Especially since those two are most likely vets and can work with each other without speaking a word.
