Testing the "Far Eastern Front" update

Agreed, I could survive just fine if every captured weapon in the game was eliminated.

I think that is exactly the HUGE problem: In games they are trying to “balance” something that was never anywhere near “balanced” or “fair” in the first place. Some nations had a considerable technological advantage over others, sure in certain cases this was indeed countered by them getting weapons from their allies, but that is by no means something that always happened across the board.

I for one do not mind unblanced matches (i.e. where one side that was stronger historically does have an advantage - keeps me on my toes and is fun IMHO), but it seems to me that younger gamers these days seem to go crazy if they have nothing to “counter” something else. But they should remember that war is NOT and has NEVER been balanced and if one side had an advantage they always would use it (and not go oh no the other side does not have weapon X, so we can not use that because it would be mean).

Example in point: In reality the overwhelming majority of German soldiers were equipped with the K98 bolt-action rifle, whereas the US soldiers carried the M1 Garand semi-automatic rifle. But this is sadly not something we see in the game, unless you are like me and equip your guys more according to their historical gear/loadouts. Hells we constantly see SMG only squads everywhere, which is something that simply should NOT be the case.

Forgot to add above that Enlisted, in my humble opinion, is not really a game that fits the e-sport requirements, so it does not really need any forced balancing like those type of games.

Therefore I would rather like to see a more historical approach to maps/gears/weapons/vehicles, even if it means things being unbalanced.

I honestly feel that an asymmetric gameplay - where every nation has different/unique abilities, gear, weapons and vehicles - is a much more fitting approach for a proper WW2 experience (forcing each nation to utilize varied strategies to win regardless) than a symmetrical approach, where everyone starts with equal abilities/gear/weapons/vehicles.

At the end of the day one always has the chance/option to pick up the gun of a fallen enemy on the battlefield and use it against them → seems a much better approach (as that did happen IRL) than to put loads of “captured guns” or worse “prototypes & fantasy guns” into the tech tree.

I think will be better to separate the city in to 4 maps and the part around the river to have houses. Since you are trying to fit the entire city on a single map thats very hard to do.

I agree, and I keep saying it. This game model is not sustainable in the long run, until the cracks start showing. There’s only so many “rare” weapons that you can turn into event or TT before the ideas start running out. That’s when we reach the copy-paste stage and now there’s no going back. Eventually those unique differences between each faction will dilute and we’ll up with a poor man’s version of Battlefield V.

What saddens me is that even as an infantry-focused game Enlisted is very lackluster after 5 years, it still feels like a glorified mobile game still in Beta stage. We have probably the broadest catalogue of weapons in any FPS already, and yet the average infantry experience in this game is miserable. Small maps, paired with dumb arbitrary rules such as the grey zone, shitty dispersion mechanics. The standard game modes feel old and repetitive in 2025.

Meanwhile there’s no sign of them ever adding new infantry classes, new vehicle class (Recon or AA), TT paratroopers, or new engineer-built structures. This game is stuck in a rut.

They could stop adding “new” weapons for all I care, and instead focusing on the AI, and give us more new maps. I’d rather have that.

I’ve been trying to load the Far Eastern Front testing update, but so far keep getting this message. So, is it my problem or is the update not up for testing yet? I just installed it yesterday, but it has yet to load.

Well then, that would explain it. To be honest, I didn’t want to test it, I just wanted to see how Gaijin messed up my weapons. :joy:
